Public? It depends on the user whether they want to show their results or not. This is not a problem.

Definitely made sure to mention the private option up front in the first sentence of the topic.

Listed? This is good but i'd not recommend it for PotD as 1000s of users vote on it. It would be difficult to manage a large list of results. Besides that, guests can also vote on PotD. How would they show them in that list?

Oh, that's interesting way to interpret the suggestion, but not the intended way I meant it.

I meant for the suggestion to be a specific part of your profile and listed in your "site activity".

But also showing the 1000s of people voting at the Poll of the Day form as a giant list of people? Not intended. And probably not useful.

Your suggestion is best for community board polls (to prevent cheating in popular contests) but not for PotD.

Now see, this IS a suggestion I've made before. Board polls should have an option for public voting list!

I'd love that :D :D

But yeah, that's not the way I intended PotDs to get "listed".

However that does make me think that maybe along witth PotD, board polls should also have this public option so that it can be listed in your profile.

And that users can share board poll on social media.

i'm not too keen on it for the front page poll (you would have to go out of your way to see if people voted too)

but for polls from created topics on all the boards? i'd be absolutely happy with having an option that lets you "show users who voted on this poll" thing. Its not a huge privacy invasion or anything and it can be helpful with smaller communities to see if a choice was chosen by a range of people or just "those massive fans who always praise it". Gives a bit more clarity on the "why" it was chosen.

Bad idea from my view. Yes, the polls are supposed to be fun. Not a hey look what I voted for in the daily poll thing. If it’s not broken don’t fix it.

My only counter argument to that would be, if it's not an option to display what the person voted on, what's the point of even displaying in their post history that they voted in the poll?

To show you voted. But not to show what you voted for. If people actually saw what users voted for do you think that’s a good idea? No, it’s not and let me explain with as much trolling, fighting and harassment it would be safe to not show what people voted for. No good can come from this idea I’ve personally seen people bullied, harassed, trolled and leave the site due all that I listed.

Do we want to show they voted for no. Another reason is to track the badges. That’s a possibility.

But it would stay the way it is now unless you specifically choose to go and change your setting to "public". Only people that WANT this would be affected by it.

There's no need to show if you voted in community polls in activity log. And sharing board polls to social media is useless (you can simply share the links to those sites.)
