For FAQ of the month and the old Review of the month, the winning users are listed next to the FAQ/Review that won them the contest that month, as seen here.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/contribute/fotm
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/contribute/rotm

However when you go to the new Contributor of the month page, it merely displays the three users that won that month, as seen here:

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/contribute/cotm

Seems to me that their winning contributions should be listed with their usernames in order to recognize their good work. This would also give current and potential contributors a better idea of what sort of contributions the site is looking to reward.

I imagine it involves a sum total of the winners' contributions - like what all they contributed, but also context (like how useful or valuable or whatever it is) - rather than any one contribution in particular.

Not that I'm against it. But it would basically require the admins to elaborate on why they won, which they haven't really extended to the other contests. I'm for an explanation (especially for FotM and RotM: it could help authors get an idea of how to make a good guide or review) but it should be across the board

That's a good point.

If it's a cumulative thing, perhaps just the most notable thing then, sort of like what they do with the Featured Contributor spot on the front page. The page as it stands currently looks kind of sad, haha.

Also, just noticed that you won in April. You didn't get any kind of notification about why you won, just that you won?

Just that I won, yeah.

And yea the page does look a bit empty. *shrug* The most notable thing does seem viable.

I thought they used to provide more details for FotM and RotM when it came to what they were looking for. Like, they would prioritize entries for more recent games and for games that don't have many or any already submitted. But they might've changed their standards since then.

I mean, that's basically the criteria they seem to use for those: but even then there are exceptions.

Personally what I was referring to was a bit beyond that, namely what actually makes the guide good aside from those things.

It's something that would be nice & informative to have, but not really necessary.
