For my context on this, there was a user who I ignored for trolling, they were frequently banned and made alts, which I had to keep ignoring. However, now I'm seeing their topics again. They are archived, but on slow boards they can still be seen on the first page and I'd rather be able to still hide them. Seems like once a user is banned they can't be ignored, and I feel like that's a reasonable option to provide.

you can ignore users who have archive posts currently! how to do it:

1) copy the username.
2) go to https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/user/friends
3) paste it in the box under Ignore a User:
4) press enter or click ignore user

^I did that, and if the user is banned it says "error not an active user" or something like that.

Could you elaborate? I fail to see how the situation I described is nothing.

I don't see how this is as important as some of the other suggestions, but if the admit gets around to it, I don't see why not.

But why would you need to ignore someone who can't post?

To avoid their old posts (especially on a dead board where they'd still be on the front page) that you had likely blocked them to hide in the first place. Like, auto-unblocking them is fine as I'm sure many folks have huge ignore lists and need to clear space, but I think we should still have the choice to go back and keep them blocked. I'd rather not see the troll posts even if the user got banned.

GameFAQs doesn't auto-unignore banned or closed accounts.

It did this one, because I ignored this user and all their alts, and later on I suddenly started seeing their posts again and they weren't on my ignore list anymore, none of their accounts were despite me ignoring all of them.
