It seems the Street Fighter V forum is very fast moving, usually in the top 5 boards on the site.

However, a good portion of threads have nothing to do with the game itself, but are simply to discuss tournament streams/results, or even to discuss whether a particular celebrity player has a good body to whatever, with many good gameplay topics getting overlooked by the constant barrage of nonsense. Recently there were even around 5 or 6 threads just to announce that one player had stopped playing the game.

I'd like to suggest we create a sub-forum dedicated to Esports - this way, people who want to discuss tournament results, celebrity players, sponsorships, can do so on their own and everybody else can talk about the actual game without the distraction.

How would I go about getting something like this created?

With the upcoming reality TV show ELeague, I can see a real need for an Esports subforum to prevent it getting even worse. Things are bad already, with up to 10 threads per day talking about the latest weekly tournament, and all the latest gossip, but I can see the whole place getting completely swamped when this thing gets shown.

Thanks in advance.

It's suggested to read the sticky before posting.

3) Petitioning for board splits in any fashion will not be regarded. Social boards are by and large not created anymore under any circumstances, and online/trade boards and the like are created if the game board itself is unable to handle these requests. The moderator staff does keep on top of these issues to recommend new boards to the administration, so petitions in this vein are not necessary.

Ok, great. How do we go about enforcing this and getting threads moved in there?

Reporting never seems to achieve anything.

If the mods have decided that discussions about Street Fighter esports players are not off-topic on the Street Fighter board, then there's really nothing that can be done.

But if anything, you should be petitioning "Make esports discussions off-topic on game boards" rather than asking for a new board or a split board. You have a long hill to climb, either way, though.
Keep on chooglin'.

^ I don't know. I don't think they decided that. The modes just seem to be completely absent. Rampant trolling all day, personal attacks in every thread, half the topics randomly turn into collections of reaction gifs or girls in their underwear.

How exactly does reporting work? I've reported hundreds of threads under Etiquette or TOS Violations, but nothing. Do they need a minimum number of reports before anybody looks at them?

Mods don't sit on boards reading threads all day. If violations are happening, mark them and move on. Every report eventually gets looked at. If nothing is happening, then either they're not violations, or you need to start explaining more context in the details box. Likewise, unless the rules have changed, you can't go off-topic within a topic. If a topic that was within the rules eventually goes off topic, that's not modable. At best you might get it locked, but that's usually only if there's numerous severe moderations happening in it.

I don't go to that board, but if I did, I'd probably want to keep esport discussion out of it too. I will sign for a petition to make esports off topic to help TC out. :)

^ thanks for that. The way I see it, this site should be for discussion about the game. It should not just be for general chat about the dietary habits of people who play the game, or for polls on whether you want to fight against/have sex with commentators/journalists who promote the game.

Right now, all of the following topics are on the first page. If these are not off-topic, or trolling, or more suited to another board, I don't know what is.

I'm not going to sit there and read though all those, as it doesn't really matter. If there's no split to the board, then no, topics discussing things related to the online portion aren't likely to be off topic. If that's what you're marking them for, then yeah, you are in all likelyhood wasting you time and it blows my mind it took you 20+ attempts to realize that. I realize that's annoying to see the board cluttered like that, but that's how this site works. As I said in the 2nd post here, if the admins feel it's bad enough to need a split, it'll get a split, until then no amount of posting on this board is going to change that. If you want a board to discuss the game that doesn't allow those topics, you can always request your own private board, in which you're free to set whatever rules you choose.
