Would be nice if community boards at least had this option, and an option to allow unlimited edits of all messages if the board owner wishes.

I think there are plans to have board leaders for all/popular boards eventually, so maybe make this an option for all boards and leaders/admins can set it however is best for a particular board?

If a sticky becomes outdated why not ask for it to be unstickied and put a newer version in its place with updated info?

I think an hour is long enough even at that you can only edit 5 times within an hour. So I believe it is sufficient for the time.

If they allow a longer time frame they must do it for all topics thus you could run the problems of people editing over and over violations. I just don’t know if it’s possible to single out each stickies topic. A good share of them are from staff on some boards so I just don’t see this happening.

This especially. As a community board owner this would make things so much easier for me so as to make corrections and fix dead links instead of having to redo a new topic.

Also allow the option to unsticky or remove a stickied topic.

I see the logic behind a time limit but it does seem futile to redo a whole sticky topic when you can just edit or add things to the appropriate posts, esp if the thread has already maxed out at 500 posts.

For a sticky post, i'm not sure if extending the time limit would be of help. Rather, something along the lines of "requesting revision" from people of a certain level or higher could be done to update or correct bad info in a sticky. A mod or lead mod would make sure the added info is legit and not some trolling attempt or whatever. And if it looks good, they can approve the request and the edits would be made.

Just my two cents to help the TC's suggestion achieve it's full potential. :)

My only problem with this is that people request a sticky of what was posted. If you edit the opening post people might change their mind about whether they think it should be stickies or not.
