Following people has been a thing for a while now.
Why can't you remove unwanted followers?
It would help prevent stalkers and harassment, and abuse.

Signed. Also worth noting that Banned users don't disappear from the list

I didn't know "followers" could stalk (they needed to be confirmed as friends to actually see anything).

Seems sensible.

Dunno if they can effectively stalk, but I have a single troll following me using 3 now suspended alts, all within 10 minutes, and I can't even remove them.

This has been explicitly stated by the admins as something that is not going to happen.

Don't try to think we can understand each other. For some reason, people think that they can do that. Remember that they can't. Never completely. Never enough.

Anti-sign.
It helps me see identify when someone I frequently talk with and respond to has posted in a topic. Not to mention for those of us that care about badges, you are awarded a certain color badge depending on how many followers one has.

Do you at least agree that followers that are banned should be removed?

Even if GameFAQs did do something like this, there's nothing stopping someone from creating a browser extension (if one doesn't already exist) to replicate the following functionality. I don't believe followers can get a list of everything you've posted in if your activity feed is set to private.

Though IMO, users who are banned should have their following lists cleared out.

I also dont want to see banned users in my followers list. Other users who are not banned and following us is good.
