So I just picked up a new Xbox One Slim and noticed that the fan makes a constant ticking/clicking noise. It sounds like it has something to do with the fan bearing. I read that a ton of Xboxes have this sound, and many do not. Could this cause the fan to eventually fail or not work right, or is it simply a matter of being annoying? I use headphones, so the sound itself doesn’t bother me at all. I’m more concerned about whether or not this could be bad for the console in the short or long term.

Also, before anyone decides to condescendingly point out that I’ve already asked this question on Reddit, I don’t find it to be a big deal that I’m asking a question on a few different boards.

The fan on my One S makes a faint squeak/tick noise and I have had it for over a year. It can only be heard when the TV is muted. The fan still works fine and the system is always cool. I’d say as long as it’s working you should be fine. If you are that worried about it though, you can always return it for another one.
