For some reason I can't find the answer to this question on Google, but I'm buying an Xbox One very soon & I have a bunch of 360 games, a lot of which are backwards compatible on the One, but my question is: do I need Xbox Live Gold to be able to play them? I realize this is probably a super dumb question & probably why I can't find an answer to it, but I don't plan on getting Gold since I only play single-player. Thanks in advance!

Nope, just the disc. Enjoy. 😏

Even with the disc you still have to download the game though. Then you need the disc in the console to play it.

That's not what he asked.

No s***, buddy. What he asked was answered in the first reply. Would have been pretty f***ing stupid to repeat the answer, wouldn't it?

Instead I offered him up a bit more information on the subject that he was enquiring about.

The disk just acts as a key, you still need to download the game from XBL. So yes, you need XBL.
