And 1440p is 4 times the resolution of the original game, which is a very substantial increase.

Because the original game ran at 720p, and the Xbox One X has a GPU that's just over 4 times as powerful. Running at 4K at the same framerate would require a GPU almost 8 times as powerful, and I doubt a console is going too have a GPU equivalent to the GTX 1080 TI anytime soon.

No word on whether or not this reduces input lag which would make the entire game play better?

Announce the next Xbox already please. Or put in the option to drop the resolution in exchange for higher fps. This 4K crap got the industry focused on the wrong things.

It's like this with consoles every generation. They have it in their head that 30fps is the standard so every time a new console releases, they push the visuals as far as they can until the framerate is only 30fps. I say sacrifice some of the visuals for a higher frame rate like I used to always do on my PC. Call of Duty is always 60fps, and it may not look as good as Tomb Raider, but it doesn't look ugly by any means.

We're playing games, not watching movies, so I don't need some low framerate for cinematic effect. I prefer a framerate that makes a game feel like real life instead of feeling like I'm watching a movie.

Or just give both options with a toggle in settings, like a PC feature.

Setting one - high graphics settings, 1440p/4k res, 30fps
Setting two - medium graphics settings, 1080p/1440p res, 60fps

There, thats all we ask for on XBX and Pro, every game should have options similar to this.

Reading the digital foundry's article, quantum break is a pretty demanding game.

To illustrate, a Titan Xp GPU - the fastest single-chip graphics card money can buy - running the game at close to max settings can lock to 60fps, but only at a 1440p resolution with reconstruction active.
