  3. Sony has sold 115m PS4s, why have they only bought 1 studio this gen?

Would be nice to see Sony putting that back into funding new studios or buying existing ones. If they are making bank off of PS4 consoles sold what is that money going towards? 6 month exclusive deals?

It isn’t up to Sony if they get to buy IPs or not, those companies are already owned by someone who has to accept their offer. Sony isn’t in charge of those deals, the sellers are.

Sony can’t just buy companies like they’re shopping for groceries. The studios have to sell their company to Sony.

Companies aren’t lining up to be under Sony’s ownership like it’s some great thing to be bought out. It really isn’t.

Bethesda sold out to Xbox because they believed it was in their interests, not because they had no choice. They could have said no.

I think 3 reasons, 1, what Folger said, Microsoft for alot of companies are a better choice because of more money, more resources, better infrastructure, and wider coverage, with Xbox, PC and now android and such, 2, Sony don't really have the money to be buying studios and 3, they got lazy because of how the last gen went, where they won the console war by far, so they rested on their laurels and assumed it would be more than enough to carry them to the next gen and beyond.

Sony as a gaming company has done well the last 10 years, but most of their other divisions have been either bleed money or underperformed. They aren't swimming in cash like Microsoft nor do they have cash socked away like Nintendo.

Oddly enough their biggest money maker is their insurance division
