They're adding fixed 60fps and aspect ratio options, the Sigil episode by John Romero, No Rest for the Living from Doom 2, and Final Doom. They will also support community WADs, freely downloadable. No release date confirmed for the update apart from "soon."

This is an incredible update.
Wonder if they'll allow weapon mod wads.

Doubt it

Wtf is a WAD
It's a PC version term. It's basically just user-created content like custom levels, textures, weapons.

You can tell who the younger gamers are, or were strictly console gamers in the 90’s. A friend of mine made and hosted tons of WADs back in the 90s.
my big question, is how are people going to be able to make them now and get them available for the PS4

That's unprecedented for sure. A lot of popular mods use copyrighted content, though, which at least raises questions about legality. I also can't imagine something like Scythe 2 or Sunder playing well with a controller, lol.

The Metallica ones for example.
I’m hoping that someone makes Chex Quest WADs available. Haven’t looked into these re-releases, but can we make our own levels in them?
