BigBoss and solid snake had it rough, so did ocelot by the end of mgs4.

But i'd say raiden. Just being a pawn the whole time, practically becoming solid Snake Jr used by the patriots

At least some of these guys were alpha heroes or turned into superhumans, and didn’t have many aspirations beyond being a ‘living weapon’. That being said, anyone who gets dismembered - tortured - turned into a brain experiment, etc, has it pretty rough regardless. The tragedy of Otacon is that, I think, he is genuinely a nice guy. Left to his own devices, he would just design global protection technology and watch anime. All these other characters are born killers.

Kaz.

He builds Big Boss’s empire. Then he loses everything including most of his life. But again he builds it back up stronger than ever. He walks away never getting closure on the destruction of MSF mother base. He crawls back into Cypher the enemy that destroyed him. And then finally he is murdered in his home by a former comrade.

Other, explain: David Hayter. if you need a reason the Japanese version of MGSV kept the same voice of snake. In English David was dropped because "he didn't sound old enough".
David Hayter was 45 around the time the game was made.

When Mgs1 came out, there had never been anything like it. The whole game was voiced, and very well done, and David Hayter stood out as great.

We really owe Kojima and Hayter for bringing in great voice acting, with proper credit given to the actors. It changed the way video games were made.
