Wait until Subverse is released, they'll really s*** their pants.

Whats that?

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/990500595/subverse/

It has a Steam page but I think you have to be logged in to view it.
You may have seen this studios parody stuff out there.

From the steam page:

"StudioFOW blasts onto Steam with "Subverse" - a sexy new Sci-Fi parody where you command your own starship filled with the hottest babes in the universe! Explore a vast galaxy filled with wacky scumbags and ancient mysteries before unwinding in your quarters with your favorite alien waifus."

a dev diary:

"PP[pooter points, the game's version of XP] is used to unlock the sex scenes in Subverse. The more PP you have, the better/more complex sex scenes become available (very much like an MMORPG talent tree if it included eating ass)."

and the last screenshot is kind of hilarious. It's a sex scene, but all the naughty bits have starbursts around them and the caption says " strategic lens flare provided by Sony"

really hearts and minds stuff. Ineveitably, there will be some who insist on not seeing the humor in it.

Damn, Star Ocean the way it should have been.

Certainly sounds better than Star Ocean 5.

That game sounds kind of funny, actually. I like the dev diary post.

That's kind of the thing about it. When you look at all these games that were dropped onto Steam that offer adult content, most (like 99% of them) are pretty cheaply made. Subverse on the other hand has both heart and soul being put into it.

Yes you can shag every one of your crew members (the ship is your personal harem, although the scientist seems to do anything with a pulse so... sorta sharing her?), but there's actual effort being made on the video game and story telling side. Some decent lore going on (for a parody type game), gameplay that has some depth to it and looks fun (space battle reminds me of Asteroids while the ground battle is turn based strategy, though not too in-depth, since it's their first game they're more on the "let's just keep it simple and fun" side of tings).

Now if only other developers would consider doing something similar instead of releasing cash grab games.

This reads like someone who’s never played a high budget eroge like Sengoku Rance or something.

Of course, if a rapist protagonist like Rance and a literal achievement of “rape over 600 girls in Japan” offends you, to say nothing of what happens to the loli princess in the game, I suppose that’s inevitable.

It's almost as if the joke that 1/2 of the internet is porn isn't completely baseless because humans love sex.

Frankly, I didn't even know about this news until a few of the gaming journalism sites released "worried" articles about it.
YOU COULDN'T AFFORD IT!

Get use to it... More and more kids who grew up this generation will continue to consume this kind of content as they get older.

Just as many adults still buy video games ( a hobby they had since they were 13 and grew up with it), next generation will be these kinds of games.. If you dont believe me just look at Fate Grand Order and see how much money that game rakes in ( its not a hentai game but its a game selling anime assets), people who grew up in recent generation do like these assets and are happy to pay for it.

PC "gaming" is in such a sorry state.
I think they've taken the freedom and liberty thing a BIT TOO FAR!

This isn't the early 00s. There are a handful of really good games in the genre now and pretending to be grossed out by it is childish.

For example, Huniepop and Monster Girl Quest Trilogy are both top notch and have excellent gameplay/characters/story outside of the sex stuff. The latter is better than some PS4 JRPGs I've played.

http://moegamer.net/2019/08/21/we-need-to-get-better-at-talking-about-sex/

Pretty good response article.

For approaching a decade now, commercial games journalism’s approach to games that feature anything from mildly provocative content to explicit sexual scenes has been to deride it in one way or another — often taking the time to insult the audience along the way. The word “embarrassing” often crops up, as does “pandering”, and the games are often accused of being “pornographic” — or, in the very worst cases, “child pornography” or “paedophilia”.

...

These articles all have one thing in common: no attempt to actually explore, engage with and analyse the works in question. They make assumptions, they don’t bother to check if those assumptions are correct, and they spend more time making grand, sweeping moral statements than actually trying to have a conversation, offer any helpful advice or get to the bottom of why these games have become popular.

Actually, they have two things in common, the second being that they’re all written by men. But let’s concentrate on the actual content itself for now, otherwise we’ll be here all day.
