is a threat.

PC will never be a "threat".

Consoles are too convenient.

The vast majority have no idea how to build a gaming computer, or even want to know.

Buying a pre built computer, is much more expensive than a console as well.

Yes, PS5 will be the dominant platform again. No matter what anyone says, in the end it’s about the games and if history has taught us anything, it’s that Playstation is where vast majority of the best games are available. The rest be it PC, Nintendo or Xbox always get only a small fraction of the best games. Just look at this gen so far...

Top ten highest rated games of the gen:
RDR2
Breath of the Wild
Mario Odyssey
God of War
Uncharted 4
Persona 5
MGSV
Divinity: Original Sin
Bloodborne
Witcher 3

Where you can play how many of those 10:
PS4:8
XB1: 4
PC: 3
NS: 2

PC has almost as much revenue as all consoles combined though.

What is that based on?

"I don't understand what numbers are."

Agreed, you don't.

Threat to what?

The pc has always lived side to side with consoles.
They appeal to different demographics, in general, though there is always some overlap.

That's not going to change anytime soon.

China is irrelevant because they ban most of the games anyway so none of the devs or publishers we here care about are catering to them.

https://newzoo.com/insights/articles/global-games-market-reaches-137-9-billion-in-2018-mobile-games-take-half/

Likely reasons: Consoles are very expensive in some countries. For instance the PS 4 is $1100 in Argentina. Biggest reason though is consoles were banned in China for 15 years so they got accustomed to pc gaming. China has 138,000 pc gaming cafes.

I dont think Sony will have the huge market dominance they had this gen. Surely MS has learned not to charge $100 over the competition and not try to stop the used games market. Sony will probably beat MS but I think it will be a lot closer this time.

PC gaming has actually gotten a lot cheaper than it used to be and its less restrictive than console.

With PS5 being full BC with PS4 and Ps4 pro one would be a fool NOT to trade in their console.

By restrictive I mean it's much easier to drop $500 on a console than $1,500 for a PC that won't suck 2 years later.
Especially if one aims to stay up to date with ray tracing, 4k, 60fps minimum performance etc.

Also with Ps5 and it's hyper fast SSD plus whatever is enabling that type of speed you're gonna need a bigger budget.
This area is under construction until further notice.

It's likely the PS 5 will have a hybrid drive. Like 512gb ssd and 2tb hdd. By late 2020 a comparable prebuilt pc will probably be around $800 or 900
