Let’s be clear here. Final Fantasy VIII was critically acclaimed when it was released. It also sold extremely well and there is a legion of fans who love it.

It’s my favorite game of ALL TIME and I still play it once a year. The music is beautiful. The love story epic and the Sorceress Edea has some of the best villain moments in a Final Fantasy game.

The VII and IX fans love to be vocal and bask in their hate but it’s a quality title.

The issue is copyright issues with Eyes on Me. The reason they can’t simply replace it is the song is used in multiple renditions throughout the soundtrack and key moments in the game. Hopefully one day it will be ported. If not I still have my PS3

They should replace Eyes on Me for this song:

..The "copyright issue" is BS btw. Square owns the song.

Square Enix has money, they shouldnt be so cheap. heck, buy the ownership of the song. they had all those generations to do it. its dumb for publishers to have a game with a song and not secure ownership of the song from the beginning. if the makers of the song dont like the agreement, Square could have just told them they would hire someone else, that would get the song makers to sell the rights to Square.

a game should not be held in limbo over copyright the game publisher doesn't own. if they have these problems they should keep their music compositions and songs entirely inhouse, made by their own employees, instead of outsourcing for music they dont own.

They don’t they licensed it from Faye Wong. It was on her album prior to them using it for the game.

Final Fantasy 8 was a massive disappointment after the masterpiece of 7.

I love 8 but I never want to play it again. Squall is my favorite FF character though and I listen to the soundtrack frequently.

As BS as it may be, they don't own the song.
