Which one do you guys prefer? Here's my own observation:

Western devs have given us characters with great substance such as Elizabeth, Elena, Yennefer, Ellie, Aloy, Clementine and (to a lesser extent) reboot Lara Croft, along with others within the past several years.

While Japanese developers have given us sexualized, softcore porn material like Quiet, 2B, Catherine and the myriad of s***ty JRPG characters. The Persona 5 characters are good though.

Note: keep discussion to modern characters, 2005 - present, for relevance.

What's the question?
I wonder if 'Deus Vult' would still be such a popular phrase in nerdom if they knew there was no 'v' sound in Latin.

Samus Aran beats out any western female character easily.
I'm not looking for help, I'm complaining. This is GameFAQs, isn't it? ~ Shad0wflare

It's a 50/50 case for western devs. You have females like Cortana, Lara Croft or Morrigan that are strong but also stay feminine. Problem is, some of the studios out there think a strong woman has to be a lesbian she-Hulk who overpower men. Dragon Age Inquisition had every bad stereotypes you can imagine from a politically correct attempt at being "inclusive".

There's no question, if there was one, the topic sentence or the original post would include a "question mark" at the end.

There's no topic of discussion. You just made two statements. Are you asking which we prefer? Whether we think one is better on some spuriously objective scale?

Haven't played any Resident Evil games, but also she's not a modern character.

Just like everything else, the East makes better female characters.
