Important note - When calling GP or grace period, please include the keyword # grace, but remove the space so the # is up against grace, and it is all one string. Please do not use the keyword in this thread until it is grace period.

When you enter the Chamber of Lament, you will see an "accessing server" message, during which a copy of the online Ur dragon will be downloaded. Kill the 3 enemy pawns to summon the Ur dragon into the arena. The Ur dragon will come with hp (and weak spots status) representative of his global health, but at any time players may be greeted with an Ur dragon of varying hp. Do not be alarmed if you see an Ur dragon with hp different from what others are reporting - he is not healing himself. Look at the mean for its general health rather than individual hp values.

You will then battle him for 8 minutes, after which he will fly away and you will see another "accessing server" message, during which the damages you did will be uploaded to the server for consolidation into the global health. If you don't see the "accessing server" message at this time, the damage did not upload and you have likely exceeded the damage cap.

Over time, as players contribute their effort towards the common goal, the Ur dragon's global health will decline. Eventually, when the Ur dragon is killed by anyone, we go into grace period (GP). If you enter the Chamber of Lament during grace period, you will have a chance to land your own killing blow to gain good rewards - the 3 piece Abyssinal set, 1 mask, and 3-4 weapons. He will also dragonforge all weapons and armor equipped on the Arisen.

Health Notation

The numbers you see posted in this thread are health updates. To give an update, just count the number of purple dots remaining on Ur's health, and add a decimal approximation of the current health bar. So, two dots and half a bar would be a 2.5. Ur starts at ten dots and a full bar, which equates to 10.99 or 11.0.

Important - always report what the health is at the beginning of a round, not what the health is at the end of a round.

General advice for getting a kill during GP

1. Use stacked periapts! Bring at minimum 32 Conqueror's and/or 32 Demon's Periapts - Conqueror's for strength, Demon's for magic. Use 4 (of each) at a time, and reapply when they wear off. Substitute Tagilus's Miracle and/or Salomet's Secret to buff your entire party.

2. Use Bloodlust*, and fight at night.

3. Use Autonomy* (see note below), and fight solo. This is not strictly necessary, but may be recommended for lower level players.

4. Use all other strength/magic boosting augments at your disposal - Clout, Vehemence, Acuity, Attunement, etc.

5. Bring enough health and stamina curatives to survive while dealing max DPS.

6. Ur Dragon is weak to holy damage. Exploit this weakness.

7. If you are a bow wielding vocation, bring a Maker's Finger. If you can get Ur down to only one heart, you can MF the last heart to kill him. Don't miss, you only get one shot.

During GP, Ur will have very little health (usually less than 0.05), and can have any number of active hearts, all of which will be glowing bright red. You will need to destroy all active hearts during a single round to get a kill (you can make multiple attempts). GP generally lasts around 45 minutes, but can vary somewhat.

*Note*- Autonomy and Bloodlust have been severely nerfed in Dark Arisen. Autonomy is NOT recommended for DA players, but Bloodlust is still a viable augment.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

Having a hard time killing Ur Dragon during Grace Period? Check this thread about stacking periapts!!

=======================================================================

Conserving Consumables:

Save your game after entering the Chamber of Lament, then proceed to fight the Ur Dragon. When the 8-minute round is over, wait for the "accessing server" message, so the damage you dealt to Ur will be uploaded to the server. When it is done, use Godsbane and reload your last save. This will allow you to fight Ur without using any consumables (MF is an exception).

NOTE:

Contribution rewards are dependent on your save file after you fight the Ur Dragon. If you did not save after fighting him, your contribution rewards (in case you miss killing him during Grace Period) will be forfeit. If you go a round with Ur, Godsbane, and then save, the damage you dealt should count towards contribution rewards.

=======================================================================

Strategies in fighting the Ur Dragon using different Vocations:

Assassin/Strider/Ranger should attack with 100/1000 Kisses and 5/10 Fold with Blast Arrows. Sorcerer/Mage should use Holy Focused Bolt. MK mostly employs Great Cannon. Fighter/Warrior are not recommended due to lack of ranged attacks.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

* Ur Dragon is healing??

Capcom confirmed that HE DOES NOT HEAL. There is a generally accepted theory that there are at least 4 versions/instances of the Ur Dragon, each with their own health points, thus the varying amounts of HP when you enter the Chamber of Lament. When one of these versions dies, all versions will sync and we will have Grace Period. There are instances when there is a big difference between the health points of different versions, so as to prevent the players from concentrating on the Ur with the lowest HP, the server will redistribute Ur's health.

* I'm not doing any damage!!

You are doing damage. It's just that Online Ur has a tremendous amount of HP and it takes a lot of players around the world to bring his HP down to zero, thus activating Grace Period. Also be sure to observe the blood that is coming out of Ur when you attack him. Purple Blood = damage, Brown Blood = no damage. Hit the glowing spots (hearts) in order to draw purple blood, and do damage. If you can't destroy his hearts during GP, then you aren't doing enough damage.

* How to discourage Ur from roosting:

Going to the West side of the chamber will help discourage Ur from roosting above the tower; while going onto the ledges on the East side of the chamber will often encourage roosting. Ur should be less likely to roost once all 4 wing hearts are destroyed.

* How to properly use the Maker's Finger:

The Maker's Finger is a special arrow that will instantly kill almost every enemy in the game. As for Ur, it will not kill him instantly, but it will destroy one local heart and deal massive damage to his local HP (not global HP). You can only damage him if you hit a glowing spot or an intact heart - if you hit him on a dead heart, this will not do any damage. Maker's Finger does not count against the damage cap for a round, and the game will auto-save after use. Tail & wing hearts should be prioritized pre-Grace as well as other hard-to-reach hearts.

You can only hold 1 Maker's Finger at a time. After you use it, Fournival will automatically restock another. Don't forge it - a forgery will never work.

Hello, hunters!
I'm sorry to interrupt - i want to ask a question.
My char MK 109lv with lv.2 Dragon Toll (1250 STR total), do i have a chance to kill UR during GP with periapts and enought stamina recovery items? Augments for defence + bloodlust.
I did run some test fights with full buffs, but i almost didn't saw any changes in UR HP between those fights, so i kinda in doubt.
Can you give me some advices (beside those in first posts) to increase my chances?
No bbi equipment so farm only main game.

I dont use MK to kill Urdy, so i hope a fellow hunter can come and be able to give u some tips.

You can reread the intro post, use Tagilus and Salomets, they can be expensive if u are short on money but they power up your pawns n u. You can also get Strider pawns and unequip their bows to make them climb Urdy. Try to get your weapons dragonforged that helps in your case a lot!

Another tip, im not sure if it is in the post, but if u can kill the offline Ur in 8 minutes, you can almost guarantee that u can kill Online Urdy on Grace. Good luck!

I would agree with William_Boone, if you can kill the Offline UR you should be able to kill most online UR in grace. I used to be an MK in my early Dragon Dogma days. I forget what equipment I had (probably a dragon forged Ascalon or Totem Mace with Abyssinal Armor). Once Dark Arisen was released, I used Golden Dragon Forged Cursed Light and mostly Hell Fire Armor. Magick Cannon was my main attack. I believe I used Hallowed Incarnation (I think thats it was) to cast holy skill on nearby pawns. As William_Boone stated, be sure to keep buffs at max (4 Tagilus and 4 Salomets) at a time.... so bring 32 of each. Also have/hire good pawns. I liked pawns that had best daggers (for climbing) and bows (which I would remove if I wanted pawns to climb).

One trick I used to use was to attack UR upon its landing and then head to the rocks on the Western Side of the chamber (the western side would be on your right as you look into the chamber from the ledge where the corrupted pawns are). On the floor level by the western rocks, there is a spot where the is a groove (like a small <) where you can stand. The groove is on ground in front of the chest located on the 1st level of western rock. If UR follows you, the UR keeps trying to walk toward you but the rocks stop it. You can stand in the groove and keep using ruinous sigal and magick cannon without taking hardly any damage (assumes you have good armor). This is great for taking out front leg hearts. For face, neck, wings, just climb up the western rocks (1st level of rocks) and use magick cannon. You can even get side hearts by firing magick cannon off to the left or right and have the balls curve back to hit side hearts. You can also use Hallowed Incarnation (I believe that is what it is call) to cast holy on weapons of nearly pawns.

Anyway, good luck. I probably had around 250 UR kills as a Mystic Knight before switching to Ranger to make use of Maker's Finger and Ten Fold Arrow skill for Blast Arrows. Only use blast arrows if needed in UR grace. My normal Ranger UR hunting (post game) method would buy Maker's Finger from Fournival at Black Cat, jump into everfall, crash land on Chamber of Lament ledge, run into chamber, kill corrupted pawns, use Maker's Finger to take out one of the remaining hearts, use Godsbane (which should take you back to Fournival unless you did something to cause an auto save), and repeat. Process take roughly 2.5 - 3 minutes. It is expensive. Would sell drops to pay for Maker's Fingers.

Wow, thanks a lot for detailed responses, guys!
Yeah, i did manage to kill offline UR two times in a row in single match (Great cannon + ruinous sigil + Holy) with 16 periapts each. Gonna try this groove trick today to practice a little.
One thing i don't catch - GP lasts for appox 45 minutes, the UR starts with some hearts (say 6 for example), if i kill few hearts, say 3 in 8 minutes, and then i start another fight during same GP - will he start with 6 hearts, like in beggining or with only 3 remaining?

The online Ur Dragon will begin each round/fight with its full GP health (whatever that might be for that generation). I do not remember if the number and configuration of GP hearts might change, but no matter how many hearts are present the Ur Dragon will begin each round/fight with its full GP health. The progress you make during an eight minute round/fight with the online Ur Dragon does not carry over to the next eight minute round/fight during GP. You have to start each eight minute round/fight over from the beginning during GP.

You are welcome. Hope it works. Again, try to draw UR over to western rock by attaching it and then running to rocks. fighting it from ground level or on 1st level of these rocks usually keep UR in 1 place for awhile. Hopefully you have armor that keeps you from being effected by UR holy attack. If so, you just keep attacking. If I remember correctly, when fighting in groove by rocks, UR head above you until it casts holy. Head drops to your level.

Also, if I remember correctly, after awhile on 1st level of rocks, UR will sometimes will back up and get slightly airborne. Move toward it, knock it to ground with great cannon. Attack when its on the ground and when it gets up, draw it back to western rocks. Repeat.

Regarding GP. As Kb2mocha said, you may get same hearts or even different hearts each time you try to kill UR in GP. Sometimes I felt like it had a bit less health on each attempt.
