Didn't help that he knew (but stubbornly refused to admit) that the WoL used to be his friend pre-sundering.
Again, just speculation. Try not to confuse TC lol.

I just want to point out WoL couldn't possibly have summoned Hydalyn. He wouldn't be alive to get shattered otherwise

Whether or not they did, it's clear that they reincarnated afterwards (as a "sundered" one).
And ended up becoming one of Her "chosen".

Why are you assuming they wouldn't have been alive?

Keep championing this theory. I don't buy it, personally.

It's okay, contrarianism is acceptable towards theories

The whole point of Emett and Ascians' existence is bringing the martyrs back to life who allowed themselves to be devoured by their God. That's the revelation we learned from this expansion. It is their final phase of their master plan. The first phase is going the worlds. The second phase is getting rid of the current joined all life to somehow retrieve the permanently dead martyrs back. That goal would have been significantly pointless if the martyrs can just reincarnate this whole time. The implications are that the 14 members were not among those who sacrificed themselves. The only ones who reincarnated are the rest of the world ( the 99% who aren't from Emett's city) and the ascians that remained except three that somehow escaped getting shattered

Minor nitpick: the Convocation was originally made of 14 Amaurotines, but then became 13 after one of them stepped down.
That one most likely being the WoL's past "unsundered" self, which is why there's the implication that they must've been responsible for the creation of Hydaelyn (thus, were in opposition to the Convocation's solution).

Other than that, you're on point.

Although, even should they succeed, there's no guarantee that them sacrificing the Source's remaining inhabitants would've have brought back those they'd lost.
I feel like their plan was doomed to fail, since they sacrificed their freedom and future to an artificial "god".

Yeah, I know, it's been heavily spoiled by some ass*** less than a week after official release. It doesn't contradict what I'm saying if I don't differentiate that it's 13 people plus one person instead of just saying 14 people.

But yeah, I too am dubious of Emelt's plan. The only time someone can "come back" is if their soul is free like Emma, or a piece of themselves still exist like her fiance's head or Nidhogg's eyes. But we've been made aware of both body and souls being completely devoured like the axe scion girl and the real Shiva and Lahabreah, and they're obviously never coming back.

This is all true according to the laws of the current world, yes. But the entire point of the whole Amaurot story arc was to show us how vastly superior its people were before the sundering. Its entirely possible that the Ascians' plan would work if the worlds were unified again. (Whether or not its even still possible after losing the 13th or not is up for debate though.)
A barrel roll would be unnecessary and dangerous.
