People who play to win and people who are content to sit there and do the same move over and over again until they win are no different than those who leave a match.
Both groups of people don't care about the fun their opponent has, only how much fun THEY have.
The spammer only gains enjoyment from winning. He'll do whatever it takes to win. He doesn't care about how much fun his opponent is having.
The rage-quitter only gans enjoyment from actually playing the game. He doesn't care about how much fun his opponent is having.
"Etiquette" you say? "Common courtesy" you say? Subjective, arbitrary notions.
The rage-quitter has what he considers to be etiquette, common courtesy, "house rules" too. This obviously includes "no spamming".
"Don't quit" is just another house rule. It's no different.
"WAAAAAH! PEOPLE AREN'T PLAYING BY THE IMAGINARY RULE THAT I MADE UP! WAAAAAH! I'M GOING TO DISCONNECT ON THEM SO THEY WILL "LOSE"! THAT WILL SHOW THEM! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
More like:
"WAAAAAH! PEOPLE AREN'T PLAYING BY THE IMAGINARY RULE OF NO QUITTINGTHAT I MADE UP! WAAAAAH! I'M GOING TO SEND THEM NASTY MESSAGES BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT HOW MUCH FUN I HAVE! THAT WILL SHOW THEM! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
So if you shame one, you should also shame the other, otherwise you're just a hypocrite.
Discuss. M I RITE, or
am I right?
As an aside, "Fun at the expense of my opponent's" is a mindset I don't jive with. I'm not sure if this even has a place in this world. It's just inherently
bad.
