Didn't know if I made a mistake buying this or not but I was really expecting to race online but haven't found a single match yet.

The serious players are busy in Time Attack :p

I keep thinking about doing a few online races but have been having trouble pulling myself away from working on my Advanced times. The few times I've tried it I haven't had to wait too long for races.

I wasn't going to say anything, but **** it....

I have played the game a grand total of....THREE times, and for 5 minutes each time. It seriously pains me to say this, and I know my friends here don't want to hear it, but I simply cannot play Daytona USA....with a gamepad. I must....*must* play it with a steering wheel! It is a strict rule I have and I simply feel absolutely naked without a wheel in my hands when playing racing games. The *ONLY* racing game I have succumb to playing with a gamepad, is Ridge Racer 6&7. And that is because those games were *designed* to work much much better with the analog stick.

But Daytona is a racing that originated in the arcade and was designed to be used on an FFB wheel, so I can only play it with that specific instrument. Anything else and I honestly and literally start to feel sick to my stomach. Call it an incredibly bizarre fetish or some strange ritual type thing, but that is the only way I can play racing games...with a wheel. So until I someday get a new wheel that works on console, I will continue to use my existing wheel to play Daytona USA on PC via Model 2.

It's a shame too, because I'd love nothing more than to be able to log on and enjoy playing Daytona in a multiplayer game with friends :(

Somethings to think about.

Daytona is very strict in that if you have an average connection you maybe capped to a max limit of the amount of people that can join in your game. Moderate Nat types may only allow 1 other person to join meaning a 1v1 online games...

I would setup a game your self and see how many people your allowed as a host to get a better picture of what your connection will allow. If your one of those unlucky people than 1v1 is a problem already.

Having said that, when the game locks it's self to one course and it can not be change unless you close up shop then boredom sets in very quickly.

If your too good and play with catch-up off then people will quit soon enough as well.

This really is a game players game. Most achievement freaks would of moved on as soon as they got 200/200 which is nothing to be proud of lol.

This is Sega Japan's first online racer with 4 wheels that I know of since Sega GT 2001 Online xbox1, why the online is very primitive sat along side OutRun2, OutRun2006 and OutRun Online Arcade.

Daytona USA has always been a solo experience for those that take it seriously.

Never ever buy any game for online, solo play should always come first!!!

Yeah, I bought this for solo play...don't really do the online thing.

Having said that, if the online thing ain't happening for this game, that doesn't bode well for whatever minuscule chance there might have been for an eventual release of Daytona 2, for extra tracks or cars, etc.  I knew it was a longshot at best, but had there been more interest, who knows...might've forced Sega's hand.

Still enjoying it regardless.

eric, i know that feeling. i had schoolwork 2006-2007, then I was a free man. hit those books and hit the girls too!

isamu, i'm so (marubaku) hard core that I wouldn't play the arcade machine in my basement; it has to be an arcade machine in an actual 'arcade' somewhere. haha. = ) remember that crazy marubaku rule you told me?

I like playing arcade games in the comfort of my own home, great times!!

For me it usually depends on the time of day, though hardly anyone was on today for what I feel are obvious reasons... Oi.

Anyhoo, I think most players that are online are lurking and waiting for a lobby of their liking to open up. Anything with the beginner course usually fills up quickly, as a lot of players I've played against haven't played the game in ages and/or aren't familiar with the mechanics. I'd definitely suggest weekends and evenings. I noticed the other night it was 1 a.m. my time (US MT) and a boatload of players from Japan suddenly filled the lobbies.
