I prefer platforming in third. Especially on those tricky areas when timing has to be precise! But first person can be fun too. It really just comes down to good gameplay controls.
This game is pretty solid. I agree with the FOV issue, but after awhile you get a good feel for jumping. Only 2 levels made me wish for a third person view option: Robot Transfer and Couch Surfing. The latter took me 30 minutes!
