Hi everybody,

Really appreciate your help on how to hook up a Elgato H60S that I just ordered in the following configuration.

Ok so here's the setup - I am connecting the HDMI out on the Wii U to the Elgato and the Elgato to my computer. No problem - feed comes into the computer.

Next, I connected a headset with microphone or microphone to the computer. No problem - now I have an audio feed for my streaming.

Here's the challenge I'm having though - so I don't want to have audio coming out of my soundbar or the TV because it will ruin my stream, but I want to hear the game audio.

I don't get what I should do because I can't just plug an audio out cable into the Wii U controller - people online say that doesn't work.

I wasn't entirely clear how to set this up.

Again, key details are play:

-Have the Elgato H60S
-Want to capture the video/audio from the Wii U
-Want to be able to record commentary while playing
-Want the audio out to come to a headset while I'm playing so I can have headphones on

I don't have an audio out plug on my soundbar or TV

Thanks in advance - I am happy to buy anything I need to within reason to make this work within reason

I would use a table top mic for my voice in the stream, and then plug some headphones into the gamepad while my soundbar/TV is muted so that I can hear my game while playing. If you only have a headset with mic to talk through PC. Then wear it around your neck so the mic is on you, and then wear different headphones connected to the gamepad to hear your game sound.

I had to google just to figure out what "an Elgato" is.

Why didn't you actually say "capture card"?

You can actually turn on both audio outputs on the Wii U in system settings (both HDMI and composite).

As in...

If you have a spare Wii composite cable lying around (Like literally a Wii cable, it'll work on the Wii U)... you can use that as a means to feed audio to your line-in on your PC.

So in terms of cables... mmm...

A Wii composite cable

Audio Splitters (to connected left and right audio inputs)

OPTIONAL: Y-Cables (to hook up to your Elgato, so systems you can't capture with just HDMI)

Too generic. In cases like this where people are giving their setup, make and model number go a long way in providing information. It could be the Elgato has a unique configuration compared to other "capture cards".

Providing make and model number right off the top saves time and confusion.

He could at least tell us what elgato is without making us look it up.

There was an error posting your message:
You can have a maximum of 7 quote blocks in your message - please edit some out

^I just learned what the limit is.

If you had to look it up (and I certainly would have had to), you can't answer the question. ;)

You're a SAGE and you've NEVER reached the quote block limit?!

If I knew what it was, I wouldn't have even clicked.

1. Apparently (on both points). But I'm more of a lurker.
2. Yeah maybe, I'm sure the phrase "wth is an Elgato?" passed through my mind as I entered the topic.
