Which means it's susceptible to Spectre. Do you think the Wii U will get hacked? Does anyone even care?

Here's a question, could (hacking the Wii U) this in any way help with emulation?

I think the whole Spectre and Meltdown stuff is being blown way out of proportion.

From what I understand, both can be prevented with some basic precaution alone, and many companies are releasing patches that will outright stop much of it, and CPUs don't really have to be replaced.

My bet, that with the Wii U, you probably only have to really worry about it if you use the browser. And even then the hardware inside the Wii U is specially customized for the system, and you probably aren't at as great of a risk as other devices.

If you go through the comments section in the following, you'll see what I said about the Wii U to be mostly true:

And here's some more general information on the subject (just make sure to read the whole thing, cause the author kind of promotes things to be dire, then scales back his rhetoric a bit):

Peoples have made their WiiU's region free for years now. Stop living in the present and catch up with the past already.

It seems you don't know what Spectre is actually about.
And right now Intel + AMD x86 CPUs are found to be vulnerable. Wii U doesn't use those.
PS4 however...

if you use the browser.

Yes, and even then, you simply shouldn't surf on sites that you do not trust anyway with a Javascript enabled browser.

Also: why would anyone waste their time on doing that, when they can instead write something to hack millions and millions of vulnerable PCs instead?
This bug goes back 10+ years, which means in any case there will be tons of vulnerable devices.

Agreed.

I tried to allude to this in my post but I didn't spell it out quite as clearly as you did.

I don't think there's a big enough user base for the Wii U to be susceptible to Spectre.
You're not funny and nobody likes you.
