No exclusive Zelda, no Metroid, too many simple 2d platformers, trash specs, gamepad was useless, they are porting all its games to Switch making the Wii U a complete waste of time.

The shutdown of Devil's Third a year into its life. We were having fun with that game!

how fast nintendo killed it
seems companies just ditch anything that doesn't sell 10 trillion in the first 8 weeks

I agree. They didn't even attempt to fix the situation. They just dumped it. There were so many things they could've done.

How were they not 'fixing' the situation? What could they fix?

The sales were fine in its first quarter, but dropped and could never be raised since. Despite releasing several 'must have' titles in 2014 when the competitors were struggling with bringing quality content early on. By 2015 it was way too late.

It was doomed ever since they failed with their marketing, they could have fixed that early on maybe, but the confusing reveal trailer alone had a huge dent in it's potential. The Switch's reveal on Youtube compared to the Wii U's reveal trailer had a lot more views... on its second day. Now a year later it's triple the view count.

And for the record, the U only had a half-year shorter life-span than the average Nintendo console. SNES, N64, and Gamecube all lasted 5 years, I hardly call 4 years 'fast killing'.

My biggest disappointment was how quickly Nintendo stopped supporting it.

I bought the system in early 2015, after the Wii U had a killer 2014. Unfortunately, it soon became clear (around E3 2015) that Nintendo was wrapping things up and putting most of their efforts into the "NX".

Fortunately, the NX turned out to be the Switch, which is freaking awesome!

Wii U is the ultimate console for Nintendo games, period

This. The Wii U library is already amazing, but it's also a Wii, and a Gamecube and a GBA (finally being able to play the GBA Metroids using a PROPER controller, thank god) etc etc etc.

How is the Wii U a GameCube? Are you making that claim because of the GC-to-Wii ports that it can play, as well as the HD Zelda remasters?

Because the Wii U sure as hell cant play original GC discs and GC games definitely never came to the Virtual Console.

It is misleading, at best, to call the Wii U a GameCube, especially when many people were disappointed that the Wii U never got GameCube Virtual Console games.

@jimi_dini is a sad person, Rush. Just another one of those Nintendo fanboys who will do anything to make them look better. Don't even bother. He can't make any compelling arguments.

@Brianst0rm
People want an original Zelda game. Not ports on Virtual Console or Remasters. The guy you replied to has a legit reason. Get your head out of Nintendo's ass for once, kid.

The Switch version of Breath Of The Wild is a port of the Wii U version. Don't give in to ports, buy the Wii U original!

They could ditch the gamepad, rebrand the system, cut the price and/or hire a competent ad agency. They did none of those things.

Funny how hardly anyone was b****ing about it until it got discontinued.
I'm sick of off topic threads and abusive mods.
