So hold onto your seat while we criticize a global company for using a non-global viewpoint in its game design. Why are you so threatened by diversity anyway?

Nintendo games do include diversity. Nintendo has all kinds of non-white male characters throughout their franchises, and games like Fire Emblem have tackled sexual orientation as well. But what people want here isn't diversity, it's token representation. Mario Kart would suddenly be great if they tossed in a black guy, regardless of whether he had any relevance to the game or not.

It's clearly not token diversity that people are looking for. People are asking that Nintendo acknowledge that there are more types of races than white people and Asian people.

Also, I would hardly say that FE:A tackled sexual orientation. There's a single character who is vaguely, possibly bisexual. They certainly never declare her as such, just implications.

And they have. Doc Louis is one prominent example. The Wonderful 101 is also very diverse.

It's not just Awakening, previous games in the series tackle the issue too. Lucius is one example.

And then people say there's no anti-Nintendo bias in the media.

I don't see why, for as little developed as a character that Link is, that Link can't just have a default appearance and then a character editor akin to Skyrim, Dragon's Dogma, Dark Souls, etc. You'd still have a face for the game and open up options to a much larger degree than the poor-looking Miis ever will.

Gamnesia? Who the hell are they?

Won't be surprised if they're some sarcastic/satirical site that get attention when they're supposed to be taken with a grain of salt.

That's not what people are looking for, either. "Well, here's one or two games. You ever play Punch-Out!!? Like, eight people are black in that game!" The suggestion that that is adequate puts characters like Doc Louis in the token category. Nintendo has hardly any (if any) black protagonists, and it should be acknowledged as a problem.

I only suggest character creation options because I don't think Nintendo's going to get around to making a solid new IP or new protagonist this gen.

I guess punch out doesn't exist then. Asking for representation in Mario Kart is beyond ridiculous, especially since 1)Miis exist, and 2) This wasn't even a problem until literally yesterday.

It would make sense. Nothing about Link requires that he be white.
