I found it curious during my playthrough that you had to kill both German and Russian soldiers. Were the US and Russians not allies in WW2? Seems screwed up that he went around slaughtering so many Russian soldiers. I mean I understand some of the Russian scientists were the bad guys. Just wondering what anyone else thought or if I'm grossly wrong in my history.

You are not WRONG in your history, but you must remember that the hero is saying that he is the first soldier of the Cold War. While nominally allies, the Soviets really wanted to overrun as much of Europe as possible. George Patton could well be the first casualty of the same Cold War. Patton made no secret of wanting to use existing German intelligence and German units to oppose the Russians.
