I'm glad the Monster Hunter has come into the modern age instead of being stuck on low spec handhelds forever

It's true. Neither has you do a strong man pose everytime you take a health potion. Both have faster paced combat. One has you slinging around hacking parts off giant monsters, the other has giant fantastic beasts that are twisted versions of not only mythological monsters, but also fairy tales. The number of spells in SSD greatly outweighs the number of weapons in any given Monster Hunter. Both offer some insight as to the enemies health. In Freedom Wars as long as your partners are around, falling in battle isn't the end of the world.

Toukiden Kiwami is the closest to the MonHun grind loop.

Freedom Wars is very different.

Soul Sacrifice Delta is an amazing game, but it doesn't feel the same. Rewards are tied to ranking.

I would've loved a proper handheld MH games as well on the Vita with its dual sticks, better specs and more comfortable build over the 3ds. Like seriously, an hour in with the n3dsxl my hands started to hurt so bad.

Imo I'd place both MH and SSD at the top, but if I have to choose one then I'll go with MH. Then comes Toukiden and lastly Freedom Wars.

Not really. The game did have a lot of flaws but there was potential in the IP since the gameplay was quite good and different and most importantly, fun. The problems it has are an underutilized setting, a cliffhanger ending (the story ends just as it was starting to get interesting), horrible AI and a lack of content (which imo is its biggest sin). All of these could've been improved in a sequel but the chances of that happening are pretty low (and even if it does, it'll just end up being a ps4 exclusive).

The slowness and the animation of each attack and action are what makes MH more fun imo since you need to make calculated attacks at the monsters by learning their patterns and waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Plus all the attacks feel like there is a weight to it which makes it even more satisfying and the slowness makes sure that you stay vigilant in a fight since it's quite harder to escape or move out of a monster's attack. Overall it all makes it more strategic.

And I've been playing it on the 3DS all the time, what a pain that was for my eyes. The jaggies were really jagged. And everything else, too.

It does. And the best part: unlike MH it has fantastic gameplay!
Soul Sacrifice Delta. Freedom Wars is great too, gameplaywise
