I've played the Zero Escape series, and the first Danganronpa game. I'm interested in the idea of visual novels, but most that I come across are otome, which I'm not really interested in.

Are there any non-Otome visual novels besides the two that I mentioned and Steins Gates that I might be missing out on?

Interesting. 999 and Steins;Gate are my two favorite (which cause me to go head to head with Fiyer, but that's neither here nor there). But the thing is, do you want Visual Novels? Or Visual Novels Lite? Due to your list you seem more of a VN Lite kind of guy.

Chaos;Child
Nurse Love Addiction
Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness
Root Letter
XBLAZE Code: Embryo
XBLAZE: Lost Memories

Since you seem to like VN hybrids, you should also look into Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters and the Utawarerumono games.

Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters was one of the most unique games i have ever played.

It is definitely one of the best "VN Hybrids" on the Vita.
Currently Playing: Bravely Default (3DS),CollarXMalice(Vita), Star Ocean 4 remaster (PS4)

I've played Root Letter.
It was... interesting. I liked it a lot, but there were some points that just left me simply going "WTF?!" It's mostly in two of the endings. Still probably worth a play.

I'm currently playing Psycho-Pass. I gave in and watched the first season of the show, and it seems like it's definitely worthwhile to do so, at least the first half of the show. The game appears to take place around the halfway point (I watched the whole thing after hitting a point in the story that referenced something that happened in an episode... in order to catch all those references I watched it all, and maybe shouldn't have).
There are points in the game that are kind of rough. I mean, it's a less exciting version of the show ('cause you don't get to see the fights in action), but it's more that... I feel like I should have made different choices for better outcomes for some of the cases, and in some of those, it's not great feels.
In the second case, it's about child abuse, which is already something that's not great mentally for some people. The series of choices I made resulted in my character killing the mother, and essentially turning a six month old into a latent criminal. Despite it being a game, I feel guilty for the choices I have made resulting in that outcome, especially when it's impossible for it to have been the child's fault. The child's future is ruined because of something I may or may not have done, and since I'm on my first playthrough and playing blind, I don't know if I could have actually influenced the outcome at all.

Obviously I haven't even completed one playthrough, but I feel it pretty safe to say the show is better, though the game has a completely different, and new, story, but with the cast from the show (and a few additions specifically for the game).

Why you so scared of Otome TC?

You should have, the first season of Psycho Pass is better than everything else in the whole series including the VN. The VN spoils what Sybil System is in many routes.

Yeah, the Root Letter VN has some pretty bad points (two of the routes sucked), but in the end the true route does at least make it worth reading. At the very least it's a better VN than Psycho Pass Mandatory Happiness

I think the change of tone from the series to the VN hurts Psycho-Pass.
I'm also not someone who generally likes "anime games", insomuch as I don't want to watch anything to learn about the setting of a game. I don't have that much time (or interest) usually.
For Psycho-Pass, though... I could have figured everything out about the setting of the game pretty easily without watching it first, as I've seen and read enough Big Brother is Watching You movies and books (and I appreciate the series for pointing some out, making me feel like, because I'm well enough read, that I'm catching a nod when they talk about them). For the game, if I hadn't watched the series first, I'd very likely enjoy it a lot less not knowing the existing characters and understanding their backgrounds and motivations. There are definitely references throughout the game.

It's probably like Noraneko says and is not a very good VN, but I haven't yet finished even a single path, so I can't say for myself just now.

As mentioned before, though, I feel it's pretty safe to say the series is better, at least the first season of it.
