Pro tip, read my username JOSEPH the merMAN.

You know this means nothing, right? I've seen male users with "girl" in their usernames. Putting "man" in your username doesn't have to mean you are one.

To be honest i could tell that the TC was a gay guy from his OP... he types like a gay guy.... and i would know...

But i also was convinced TC was a troll.... which is why I responded the way i did...

Maybe just years of hanging out on this board have made me skeptical of every new poster

Joseph is a masculine name too. I have never known a girl online with a username as masculine-coded as "Joseph the Merman" (unless it's some roleplaying thing). Between that and having an avatar that's a photo of a man, I think it's safer to assume the poster is male than female, unless one is desperately grasping at straws to play the devil's advocate or refuses to believe gay people exist.

Besides, if one really feels unsure about a person's gender online, the polite thing would be just to use gender-neutral pronouns (singular they/their is pretty common) or simply to ask, not to accuse the person of pretending to be a girl, which is how this whole matter of TC's gender came up in the first place, despite him never once claiming to be female.

Yeah all TC did was mention that they have a boyfriend and the sexist/ homophobic trolls here started accusing TC of lying about being a girl...

I dont recall TC ever stating their gender until after they were accused of pretending to be a girl

It could just be a the name of a character the person likes. I was just saying that you never really know why the person chooses the username they have. Didn't notice the avatar though.

Spend some time around a lot of women online, get a feel for the usernames they tend to use, and then come back to me and tell me if it's common to see usernames similar to "Joseph the Merman", to the extent that someone with that username is more likely to be female than male and warrants the assumption that they're female.

Just because this board is filled with guys who have accounts named after their waifus and favorite female porn stars and what have you doesn't mean that female gamers tend to create usernames in the same fashion.

Oh shut up

It's not homophobic to assume that someone who said they had a boyfriend is a girl

Actually yeah it is, as well as being Sexist on top of it...

assuming things like gender or orientation based solely on non-informative facts like relationship status and the gender you are attracted to is the very definition of homophobia and sexism...

You are basically assuming a standard onto someone based on your perception of what is "normal" or "standard"...

I've never understood this argument.

Let's see what you get when you buy a console late in it's lifespan:
+ Bigger library of games
+ More hardware revisions
+ Lower console prices
+ Newer firmware versions are out

Cons:
- Physical copies of games can be harder to find

No it's not. It's logical thinking. The majority of boyfriends on earth are partners to girlfriends. This is logical and facts and can't be disputed. Obviously one would natural think TC was a girl based on the fact he has a boyfriend

No the f*** it ain't

Maybe on tumblr where people who don't matter post, but not in the real world.

Standards are standards for reason. Has nothing to do with homophobia. You'd assume TC was ether gender based on the fact depending on your personal orientations

If you assumed TC was gay does that make you anti-straight people? Because according to your logic it does
