People tell me to do something else while I tape down my left bumper, but I CANT HELP BUT TO PEEK EVERY now and and then... hoping to see some results (checking back every 10 minutes).

For anyone that has gone through this torturous achievement, any tips for giving myself the best odds?

I've been playing with a starting pool of 2000 coins - should I do more?
I usually go through 500~rounds, usually with only one victory mode.

When and if I ever get the super victory mode, should I be manually controlling it (not using LB?)

You need more coins - and you need to make sure the woman says the machine is like a "hot summer's day", because that's apparently hotter than being on fire.

First of all what achievement are you trying to get? The 10,000 casino coins or are you just trying to get the fragment by winning 7,777 from the machine?

Let me add
-I have a cleared FFXII save file on my HDD
-I have reloaded to make sure I play only when it's "Hot summer day blahdy-blah"

I'm noticing my left reel always has the same pictures, and the same combinations appear often... I don't know the exact pattern but I believe there is one.

I'm starting to think that the algorithm behind this is determined when you enter the machine (and afterwards a smaller subset of options is available once you are in that sitting-session).

I'm worried my current subset of options is literally does not have a 777 in its possibilities.

Maybe I'm getting to analytical, but after 2000~ turns, I think I'm starting to either figure this out or go insane..

P.S.
What's a good amount of coins to start with?

I've done this now on 2 game saves (one of the files having won the x500). Just start with like ~5k Coins and Auto. That's the best i can say. You'll see the same pattern show up usually every other spin but you'll notice youll get a Jackpot when after the first column spin its glowing white with like a 7/Cactuar/x500 on the first row a Jackpot will come that time or soon after. Then hope you get another 2 of them during the x5 and x100 Stages or even multiple in the x100 stage. Then After it's out of the x100 stage exit save and repeat.

All and all, it's better to manual play on "it's like a hot summer's day!"
BUT
if you want the best odds for Ochu(normal mode) you should manual play on "it's not dogin well, but it's not doing poorly either"

If your going for the fragment just buy about 2000 coins and auto it. You can do what people suggest and tape it down and go watch a movie and see if you have the fragment. I have heard people say the fragment only comes out on 777s but I personally lined it up with just a regular moogle combo. If you really want to watch just auto it but I am warning you it can take A LONG time if you are not lucky. I went over 2600 spins before i finally got mine.

If you are going for the trophy do the chocobo races with your gold chocobo. Its much easier.

Thanks for all the replies and help guys.

I'm just throwing some autos out there, I'm was hoping to get the achievement and the fragment here, but I think I'll heed some of the advice here and just stop once I manage to get the fragment.

Also in case anyone is curious, it seems like the 6 moods for the machines can be split into pairs that can be toggled between without doing a save->exit->reset (only within each pair).

For example:

BOTTOM PAIR
MOOD RANK 6: "Oh, dear. Someone's not a happy camper."
MOOD RANK 5: "the poor thing's a little down in the dumps."

MIDDLE PAIR
MOOD RANK 4: "it's not doing well, but it's not doing poorly either."
MOOD RANK 3: "it's not bad. nothing special."

TOP PAIR
MOOD RANK 2: "that machine's on fire!"
MOOD RANK 1: "it's like a hot summer's day!"

If you see the woman say "that machine's on fire!", you don't have to save -> reset, you can just talk to her again and she has a chance to either repeat that Mood or can switch within the pair to say "It's like a hot summer's day!". I believe the same goes for the other pairs as well.

Nice little tip if you are like me and it takes 1000 million times to get coins from the slots

Save it for last. Get a ton of gil and buy a ton of coins. Tape the button down and go to bed for the night.
