I am wanting to get my daughter minecraft for her birthday. We have ps3 she plays the demo on. Also she has her laptop. If I purchase the game through ps3 can she still log on on the laptop and play the same game? Or can I do it the other way around and buy the pc version and then just log in from the ps3 to play the same game?

No. You would have to buy minecraft on the PC and the PS3 separately.
My suggestion would be PC. It's a lot more fun, and the worlds are much larger than that of its console counterparts.

Yeah...I had no idea that the console worlds were so limited. The radius is 2000 blocks...in a lot of cases you can't even find most biomes in those worlds. PC version is WAY better at this point, and probably always will be.
Why? Because **** you is why.

The console versions might as well be entirely different games. The differences between them and the pc version is night and day.

The PC version and the PS3 version do not interact with each other in any way
both versions are seperate games and can only play on their own systems

although if your daughter is a child, i would suggest the console version...
I would think it would be easier on your daughter to play on a controller and not having to worry about the world being too large to explore, plus it has a tutorial to get a new player started

If she has friends that play online, she can easily play with others thru the online service
