Years later people STILL complain about this game. It's amazing. A good game by any normal person's standards, that people hated SOLELY because of the marketing(which was, admittedly, s***) that managed to just piss off a ton of people.

I've even heard claims that DMC1 and 2 were better. Completely ignoring that both were subpar at bes when they were released(genre defining at the time though) and even worse now. DmC doesn't even have a good story but at least it isn't flipping coins and trying to fill a dark soul with light. I have a feeling if they kept on the path they had intended WAY back when(the emo haired, smoking Dante) it would have been a better game. But people are so afraid to have the idea of their favorite games remade without being the exact same thing all over again. Hell, if you gave NT enough attempts, they'd eventually strike gold like DMC3.

And that's the thing that I enjoy the most whenever DMC pops into my head. The thought of how salty everyone got.

Oh well. Here's hoping DMC5 is announced this year. I'm betting on that or Dragon's Dogma 2.

I still read the salt for sure lol. I enjoyed the game. Wasn't life changing, but I definitely had fun with it. People's reaction to the game and it's main character made for some great reading.

If your post were to be true, that means the following: DmC DOES have a good story, DMC5 and DD2 aren't being announced this year, people don't complain about the game still, and no one was salty.

All of which, in their previous state, range from possible to absolutely 100% true.

Edit: Off topic but I lost a pet recently, and that stuff always hurts. Hopefully you found peace with that like I'm going to have to.

No, you were wrong about the game being good.
Even without the standards of DMC, it was incredibly sub-par.
Bayonetta came out several years earlier, and they couldn't even reach DMC3 levels of gameplay. f***, even DMC2 was too much of a reach for them.

My best wishes for your pet.
And I did, although there are some people that try to use a dead pet to get under your skin.
One guy tried to and is currently in purg.
If anyone gives you s*** on that, mark them.
That stuff disgusts me, and it doesn't matter who is being harassed with a dead pet.

I respectfully disagree. I feel the game was good, quite good. A lot of fun, with amazing visuals(the world altering and changing just to make a simple path into a long journey was amazing), and smooth gameplay. It wasn't on the level of DMC3, that's for sure(if the game got the chance to progress like the originals it very well could have been), but it was a million times better than DMC1 and 2. My first playthrough of 1 was frustrating and unfun. Even on my first playthrough(hardest part of any DMC game for me) the experience felt so flawed and dated(which are both fair considering it's age, and being the first of it's genre). It's not like other genre definers. Not like Doom or Wolfenstein which to this day are joys to play. Not like Super Mario Bros or Donkey Kong which I can find a bit of fun in. The game, as a genre definer, is important. But it is alright at best. DMC2 is boring. I couldn't get past the first level.

Yeah, I just try not to mention stuff like that on forums. Death is a horrible thing and a******s like to get under your skin with it, so I rarely mention that stuff. It's an easy target for disgusting people.

I feel that the game was atrocious.
It felt boring, clunky, and relied on holding a button to access 4 out of 5 melee weapons.
Colourcoded weapons were a big issue.
Slowdown as well, and a subpar framerate.
It barely reached DMC1 levels of complexity. DMC1 has aged poorly controlwise, but you adapt quickly enough. DMC1 actually had a really good AI and difficulty.
DMC2 is boring, but I take boring over bad and having bad controls any day.

I found myself rooting for the villain in the game.
That is a very bad sign.

It's not a horrible game, but it's not particularly good either. There are a ton of iffy design issues, the enemy AI is braindead, and the combat just isn't as in-depth or rewarding as DMC3 and 4. I also resent the notion that DmC is better than DMC1. Yeah, the latter is an older game with some archaic design elements, but it holds up tremendously well. The combat is downright incredible and level design is outstanding. I love its almost arcadey feel.

Don't forget how DMC1's enemies actually got more attacks as you played on a higher difficulty.
To fill out the bestiary you had to play on DMD.

I was more or less talking the re-released version of DmC rather than the original which took away the need for colorcoded enemies(horrible design choice, but even 1-3 had crap things like bad perspectives for horrible platforming), massively upgraded framerate, etc. I like to think of the updated games as the ones you compare, like I wouldn't compare DMC3 to anything without additions from the main release being implied.

Honestly, the game has flaws, I'll admit to that, but it's not worse than 1 and 2. 2 had boring gameplay and a s*** story(coin flips must have been all the rage). I hated it, never even finished the game. 1 as I said was revolutionary, but that doesn't make it good. I think there is a bad case of rose tinted glasses with all the past DMC games(minus 2). Everyone treats 1 much better than it has any right to be treated, imo. 3 deserves it's praise, though. And 2 it's hate.
