OTher than recently, the last time I played was back in 2012 or something. So I've looked up build guides because I have no interest in guessing what works. Currently doing a molten strike Scion, lvl 57. Is there some sort of guide out there, specifically for this build and character, that tells me what piece of gear I should have at a particular lvl? I can run through a D3 season without breaking a sweat nd hit 70 stupid fast. But this game? Sometimes I feel like I'm walking through quicksand hoping I find that branch (piece of gear, properly soketed in the right colors) that will make it less so.I feel like I'm doing far more kiting than should be needed just so I don't get whacked. Using a taunt totem just to stay alive in large groups and with elites and bosses.

Not quite sure - so you are or aren't using a build guide for your Molten Strike Scion?

Yeah, that's unfortunately one of the side-effects when you allow players to set their own difficulty level lol.

If you're following a build guide, typically they'll have Leveling Trees and Leveling Uniques sections. If not, you could always link your profile and I can see where the problem is. Might just be gear or Passive Tree related.

using a build guide for my molten strike scion. They show what gear you should have at like max level but don't really offer much in what you should have as you level, really. If I had the currency needed to get something like a tabula rasa it would much easier but we all know how that goes.

I'll see about linking my profile, if I can, when I get home from work.

Overview
- Can you also link the build guide? By looking at the recommended gear, you can likely see budget options as well.

- I can look at the tree later. The website Tree doesn't work well on mobile

- A good spot to farm is immediately after the Act 8 Boss, an Act 9 zone called Blood Aqueducts which is lvl 61 and even right before you reach Act 9 Town. Though with your gear, and the lack of Resistances the A8 Boss will probably melt you. You can farm Lunaris Concourse or the Harbour Bridge in the meantime. You will find upgrades very fast imo

- Do Cruel Labyrinth ASAP to get your next two Points. It's lvl 55 so you should be good to go. Ascendancy nodes are some of the biggest power/defense boosts a character can achieve.

Gear
- Have you been rushing through the Acts or something? Overall your gear looks as if you didn't farm a zone or two throughout the Acts to allow your gear to "catch-up" to you.

- Your chest is probably the best out of your gear. Immediately replace your Helm, Amulet, and both Rings. Anything is better than them tbh, as none of those stats help you. Get Life or Resistances in those slots - ideally both.

- Hallowed Life Flasks are a good starting point. Spend a few Transmutation / Alteration / Augmentation Orbs to roll your Flasks. They're very important for survivability. You may want to only spend a very small amount in the meantime because the main tier of Flask people use, Divine Life Flask, starts dropping at lvl 60

Gems
- I'm assuming you're just using some sockets to level up gems right? Because Volley Support doesn't work with Herald of Ash, and you've got Ground Slam linked with COMK but not linked to any Spell

- I'm seeing stuff like Earthquake and Ground Slam when you're mainly a Molten Strike build. You'll want to stick to using that main skill most of the time because that is where all of your investment is / will be. Your Passive Tree, your 4L set-up, etc. all builds for Molten Strike

- You'll definitely want a movement skill linkage. Since you're 2H, I'd say go Leap Slam + Fortify + Faster Attacks. That way you can open with Leap Slam and receive the Fortify buff for extra damage/tankiness

- Swap out your Decoy Totem for Ancestral Warchief. Basically does the same thing by aggroing mobs but also deals pretty heavy damage by itself

here\s the build guide Im following. The other gems I\m just lvling because, why not. As for the other, never took em out. just wanted to see what the attacks looked and sounded like. Might have to make a ground slam build or something. looks like it could be fun.

As for the acts, just been going through them doing the quests. When I finish the quests and kill the act boss, I move on.

Ahh okay, so it's mainly a classic Oro's Flicker build that uses Molten Strike for single-target. Getting to level 67 is pretty damn easy since that's even before endgame Maps. You could honestly farm Act 9 Blood Aqueducts all the way to lvl 67 while just doing Act 9 and 10 just for quests. I think Oro's should be super cheap this time in the League, probably 1-3c.

There's also an entire section dedicated to Leveling, in regards to Gems, Gear, and Passive Tree so check that out if you need help on how to get the last 10 or so levels.

Passive Tree
- Replace Poacher's Aim immediately. Grab a Crimson Jewel and roll it with some Transmutation / Alteration / Augmentation Orbs. Almost certainly guaranteed to be better than it

- I highly recommend unspeccing two Points and putting them to Spirit Void (you're right beside it), even if its just temporary. That way, you now have a bunch of Mana Leech and can permanently sustain your Skill usage. Then you can drop the two Mana Flasks for more Life Flasks or whatever you want, ultimately making your survivability increase

- The good news is that your Tree is set up for generic 2-Handers, so any 2H upgrade will do. It does not have to be a 2H Mace for example.
