Curious if there's a difference from GGG's point of view for those that have followed the game closely.

There's not much of one; they've even said they consider OB to be a sort of soft launch.

I imagine they keep the beta tag on there as a disclaimer that everything might not be working properly, and it's not as content-complete as they'd like it to be as a full game.

The difference is that in one you can use the "It's Open Beta" excuse for any critism and in the other you can't use it.

i believe GGG said from a "gamers perspective" it is considered a launch..
however, i am sure there is still alot of changes they will commit before or druing the official launch.
