I'm sure this is old news to most of the regulars here, but anyone who isn't aware of it, you've got to play the remake of this game, Bionic Commando Rearmed. I would say definitively that it's the best remake of any game ever -- and that's really saying something. This was already one of the better NES games, and Rearmed managed to improve on every single aspect of the game while keeping the original feel. Just some of the things they improved:
• 2.5D graphical look and excellent remake of all the music • Revamped weapons that are actually all useful • Improved item system and inventory • More fluid movement and bionic arm control • New, highly innovative boss fights • Multiple difficulty levels • Save feature • Achievements and bionic arm challenge levels
Overall, the game will take a recent amount longer to beat, probably 4-5 hours as opposed to the 1-2 hours of the original. Much longer on the harder difficulty levels.
The game can be downloaded on the PSN or XBox Live, but I would actually recommend the PC version (make sure you have a game controller). The graphics and effects are fantastic on that version, and the game seems most impressive to me when played that way.
Perhaps the best improvement in my eyes was the new music, which fits all the levels perfectly and just sounds incredible. I've leave some of my favorites here:
