On my very first playthrough of Super Metroid, this was the sequence I took if I am remembering correctly:

Morphing Ball
Missile
Bomb
Super Missile
Charge Beam
Hi-Jump Boots
Varia Suit
Speed Booster
Ice Beam
Spazer
Power Bomb
Grapple Beam
X-Ray Scope
Gravity Suit
Space Jump
Plasma Beam
Spring Ball
Wave Beam
Screw Attack

The only one I'm not entirely sure of is the Spazer, I may have actually gotten it somewhere in between the Power Bomb - Grapple Beam - X-Ray Scope sequence. But I don't think I did, mainly because I always remember making a mental note about the last three Icon Items being collected in sequence.

charge beam
spazer
hi jump boots
varia suit
wave beam
speed booster
power bomb
grappling hook
ice beam
gravity suit
space jump
plasma beam
spring ball
screw attack
xray scope

You get wave before speed?
The only people who complain about gatekeeping are the people who the gate was supposed to keep out.
The last Metroid is in captivity. The galaxy is at peace.

My first playthrough was a long time ago, can't remember much. These days I usually go with whatever I'm feeling at the moment.

Depends a lot on the route too. Like if I'm doing Phantoon first, I go there straight after green Brinstar (with continuous wall jump or diagonal bomb jump), and I don't bother picking up Spazer/Norfair stuff until I have to actually go down there.
And this time!

Yeah, I sometimes wall jump to get the Wave Beam early, myself. I think I may have done that on my last playthrough, even. The first time I figured out I could do that, I thought it was really cool.

I know but getting speed first allows you to exit the area faster.

There's no benefit to getting wave before speed. then again i'm a speedrunner lol. Those frames are important.

I need to add in skipping Screw Attack at some point D:.

Morph Ball
Missile
Bombs
Super Missile
Charge
Spazer
Varia Suit
Hi Jump Boots
Speed
Wave Beam
Ice Beam
Power Bombs
Gravity Suit
Space Jump
Plasma
Screw Attack

(Skip X-Ray and Spring Ball)

Depends on if he wall jumps bubble mountain or goes around. If going around then wave beam is on the way to speed booster.

I take the long way around, as I can’t walk jump bubble mountain worth a s***, which as you said, is why I get wave before speed.
