I was following a guide and played on my nintendo switch online SNES.
I was able to use savestates and rewind it back.
My score was 9.
Now I am screwing around in kakariko village.
Ask me anything

You died 9 times? Not bad for a beginner.

Favourite dungeon?
I liked turtle rock because of the references to Mario.
Favourite boss?
The Wizard. You can also use a bug net
Light or Dark world?
Light, for so many reasons.
Places that gave you most problems?
Lighting the torches in misery mire. Literally took 20 minutes bc I'm dumb.
Also, the skull area

by using a guide and savestates you got 10% the satisfaction you could have had
Contrary to popular belief, dying is NOT cool.

I beat this game when I was 10 on the original SNES with no instruction manual and the few hints from Jeff Rovin's "Conquering Super Nintendo Games" book. I was probably over halfway through the game before my parents even bought me that book. I know I solved the Ice Palace puzzle on my own, no Cane of Somaria because I hadn't figured out how to get to Misery Mire yet. I also didn't know that you could put fairies in bottles and be revived when you die, so I was always buying potions. I think I had over 100 deaths total on my first complete playthrough, though most of these were probably from save-and-quits.

So yeah, Skeppy, color me impressed. :-D

I always tried to power through that stupid cave on Death Mountain with the spiky floor without using the Magic Cape when I was a kid.
I think I did manage to make it through one time when Link had lots of Life (and several Red/Blue Potions), although this obviously felt like a very unnatural way to make it through that place.

That's how I used to do it as well, until I realized that the cape will protect you. You should probably try to eat some damage from the spikes on the way in, though, since there are a bunch of hearts around the chest that contains the Cane of Byrna. Save the cane or cape for the return trip back out. This way, you won't waste all your magic.
