Well, now it comes down to a game 7 and a rematch of game 3's starters. If McCullers pitches as well as he has pitched recently then the Astros have a good shot at winning. It wouldn't hurt for their offense to come to life too since they've had problems scoring on the road. It should be a good game.

Honestly, McCullers looked a bit nervous...hitting 4 batters is not the start the Astros were hoping for...but the Dodgers just couldn't seem to get their offense on track. It may have been due to Hinch basically using other starters in a relief role. Darvish didn't help the Dodgers by having another bad start either, once they brought in Kershaw, the game became a pitching duel.

The Dodgers just couldn't get a big hit when they really needed it. They had runners on in nearly every inning but either hit into double plays or just left runners on. It was a good series and a well earned win for the Astros. Now the long off season begins.

Yeah, and the changes will begin I am sure...I really hope if Beltran retires the Astros offer him the bench coach spot that is open with Cora taking the Boston job.

Well, it's official, Beltran announced his retirement earlier today. I haven't seen anything yet about him going into coaching or any offers from the Astros but I did see something on ESPN about the Yankees are interested in interviewing him to be their next manager. But I've also seen rumors about them being interested in Aaron Boone too.

Yeah, I saw the Yankees are interested in Beltran...I would think he would be a better bench coach for now rather than a manager.

He probably would do better as a bench coach than jumping straight to manager for now. He could do well as a manager but then he might be under a lot of scrutiny the moment the team goes through a losing stretch. Plus you don't see too many players retire in baseball and get offers or get hired to be a manager. It's best to get some experience in a smaller role before taking the leap and taking control of the team as a manager.

And the scrutiny would be intense in the Yankee job. Do you think they will hire Boone for the job? I don't think he has coached before either has he?

AFAIK Boone hasn't had any coaching experience since his retirement. He's been with ESPN and has done well as an analyst and commentator on Sunday Night Baseball. I don't know if he would get the job but I like the idea of them trying to get someone who used to play for them to be the next manager, like they did with Girardi.

Maybe Jeter can coach the Yankees...after he wraps up his meetings with the other owners next week he may need something to keep him busy...>_>
