I'd like to see more artifact tweaks like the ones in 3.6.1. Most of the changes in 3.6.1 are pretty cool if nothing else (particularly Cleaver), and there are still a bunch of practically useless artifacts out there.

I want a system to identify stuff not reliant on price-checking in shops. So:

New dungeon feature:
COMPUTER TERMINAL

-appears like sinks, fountains, altars
-can be used to endlessly identify stuff using the internet (50& chance for internet connection)
-can't tell the BUC
-random stuff can happen too (12.5% chance for a negative effect)
-"Spiders pour out from the computer terminal!"
-"A ghost appears!"
-"The modem sparks and explodes! Internet connection has been lost!"
-can use new floppy disc and/or CD items

FLOPPY DISC, CDs
-can run in consoles equipped with the appropriate drives.
-computers may have either/or/both/none disk drives. (1/8)

If the computer is hit with lightning or cancellation, it wipes the drive and ruins the terminal.

Maybe modems can be items that can be removed or installed, too, but they get destroyed like rings if you're hit with lightning. And when using a terminal with a modem for the first time, it takes 5 turns (not automatically passed) for the modem to connect. Or 3 turns to turn the PC on, if it isn't already.

Intelligent beings with the appendages necessary to operate a PC can use it too, with the same chance of negative effects possibly ruining the terminal. Maybe set to do so every X turns, so it's not just a constant stream of inputs. A monster using the PC will also mean the modem is already connected and the terminal is on. Fire will cause the PC to shut down, and 3 times will destroy it.

New artifact: Laptop! An item PC with a built-in modem. We could go with charges used for the battery, with every X turns on being 1 charge used (to encourage turning it off when not using, and thus enduring the boot time and modem connect time later on). Starts with 3-5 charges, max charges is 5-(# of recharges). Blessed charging restores max, anything else is 1. Once max charges reaches 0, Laptop fails to boot. Still vulnerable to lightning and cancellation.

Even once Laptop is useless (charges expended or ruined) it can still be used as a "bait" for intelligent humanoids that will go over to it if set on the ground. If it still works, they'll try to use it (wasting charge), if it doesn't, they waste a couple turns "picking it up and shaking it." Each instance of a monster has a "Laptop" flag, or some indication that they've satisfied their curiosity, and will ignore the laptop thereafter. But if it has charge, you can trick one into using it as a diversion.

PCs have some chance (6.25%) to freeze while loading. Only fix is to kick it, with a 25% chance of it breaking the PC, otherwise correcting the issue. Laptop is the same, but you need to throw it instead. BUC of Laptop affects freeze chance (25/12.5/3.25% maybe). A cursed Laptop could also return bogus identify info, similar to how hallucinations alter your items. The Laptop can be used to play the pass tune via mp3.

And while it would be fairly broken and shouldn't be implemented, I like the idea of storing all of your identifications on a computer, so if you're hit with amnesia, you can restore them. The catch being it takes, say, 2 turns per identified item to record them, and it's all or nothing, and there's a chance (maybe like 1/64 or less) that any given identity is corrupted and lost. But aside from turns used to record, I can't think of any drawbacks or consequences that would make sense that could outweigh the benefit of "backing up" your identifications.
Eclipsing power is, at times, not only the instrument of demons, but also of gods.
Lost, but not forgotten.
