Me: Hey, a new 2D Metroid! Awesome, I've wanted another one of these for a while. This is gonna b-

Samus: *uppercuts an enemy with her f***ing arm cannon*

Me: YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

No, seriously. Ever since Other M, I've wanted an actual competent Metroid game that incorporates melee combat. I didn't think in a million years we'd actually get one, and in a 2D Metroid, no less. The end of that trailer also suggests that they have melee finishers like in Other M. Here's f***ing hoping. I'm HYPE!

As for Mario, that song is catchy as hell. Also, Mario's hat now lets him possess the bodies of his enemies. That's metal as f***. I'm still not getting a Switch.

Also for Mario, there's that weird crossover with the Rabbids, that is apparently in the gameplay style of...

...XCOM?!

s*** be wack, yo.

Did another Metroid Prime run when I got home last night. Wanted to see if I could do 100% without using my checklist...

100% completion in 3:49.

Due to mouse troubles, and the upcoming Necromancer, I decided to give Diablo 3 some time and see if I would want to spring for the not-free Necro expansion. Have to say, I did enjoy myself. Also, my stash is a mess, so I'd probably get like two hours of enjoyment just going through and cleaning it up.

I decided to push my Wizard and Crusader to see how far in GRifts they could go. My old record was level 50, but I mostly stopped there for vanity (an even 1000 Blood Shard cap). Also, the sets I use on both of these characters have been buffed by balance patches since I last really played them. Both of those characters have now cleared level 60 (which corresponds to the highest difficulty available in non-GRift play, Torment XIII).

My Crusader struggled a bit. Even though she has absolutely insane damage mitigation (basically 100% uptime on Iron Skin, which is just a flat halving of all damage, is able to use Akarat's Champion on any difficult fight, which gives one instant revive if you die while it's active, and the set was buffed to give up to something like another 65% damage reduction), she was struggling to stay alive in some champion packs. Once she gets 1v1 with something, though, she just tears it apart. Finished GRift 60 with about 20 seconds to spare, and died about 5 times (had to go back to town to repair once). I also discovered there's a (new?) two-handed flail that makes your Shield Glare (basically just blinds enemies in an arc, I use it for a rune that lets it generate Wrath for each enemy hit) do damage equal to your last five Shield Bashes (my main attack move). So I'm looking for that...

My Wizard, on the other hand, didn't have much trouble with GRift 60. Died once due to carelessness, but she basically just shredded it, and had a few minutes to spare. She could probably get up to 62 or 63, but I stopped there for the night. I also haven't figured out which of her builds is stronger, the Arcane one or the Ice one. All of that running was with Arcane, but I'll probably try the Ice build later.

Over the next couple days, I'll probably push all my characters to their limit in GRifts just to see where they're at. I'm not really that interested in my Barb or Witch Doctor, but oh well.
There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want.

Just so everyone knows, according to Nintendo, he doesn't "possess" them-

He "cap"tures them.

Happy Steam Summer Sale, everyone!

But it refused.

Picked up Darkest Dungeon again. I lost an Antiquarian to a heart attack (no surprise there; they're weak as f*** in combat) and have gotten quite a few negative quirks, but overall am doing quite well. Beat the Necromancer Apprentice on my first try: My Leper crit twice, once for 26 and once for 29 (Necro has 105 health). Some clutch heals from my Occultist and stress healing from the Jester meant that everyone was fine, and no one even hit 100 Stress.

I am playing with one modification to the game, which I'm going to explain because I'm somewhat passionate about it. A few hero classes are tagged by the game as being religious, which has minor effects on certain events and skills: some of the Vestal's camping abilities are more effective on religious party members, for example.

One hero class is the Abomination. Basically a disfigured dude in chains who, due to a curse, can transform into a horrible monster. In combat this makes him a formidable fighter, but he tends to stress everyone out. Perhaps the biggest gameplay change caused by a hero being religious, however, is that they will refuse to be in the same party as an Abomination. I guess this makes sense in the case of the Crusader and Vestal, as they're clearly and vocally people of the lord and don't want to venture with any heathens or abominations or whatever.

For some reason however, one hero that is also flagged as religious is the Leper. In his backstory, the Leper is basically an outcast/freak because of his disease, and much of his moveset/dialogue revolves around being a loner who depends on himself because he's been shunned by society. And yet this dude, for some reason, refuses to team up with the poor Abomination.

I especially find this weird because nothing in any of the Leper's story, dialogue, or moveset suggests he's particularly religious. And yet he refuses to pair up with a fellow freak of nature because of religious purposes. I think that's dumb, so I went into the game files and removed the tag that makes the Leper religious. Now he and the abomination can be outcast buddies together.

Played through the Serenes Forest chapter of Fire Emblem Path of Radiance (specifically parts two through four).

Man, that felt long. But I was able to get Class Changes for Boyd (as my only active axe user, he really got a lot of playtime), Ilyana (one of my favorites), Gatrie (with Lethe and Gatrie holding off hordes of enemies, he got a lot of playtime too), and technically Mia (my other favorite; she's 9 exp away from her promotion so I'll just give it to her with the bonus EXP I have literally never spent before).

Looked up some things to figure out why I was only able to give one person their "ultimate" skill (turns out I only have one Occult scroll).

Oh! And I also finally changed classes for Ike! It took forever. I literally had barely used him since hitting 20 last year, which means all the maps in PoR that I did this year had minimal usage of him.

I'm probably going to use the Occult scroll to put Aether on him and then we're going to town. I'm probably also going to Class Change Zihark since he's level 20 soon.

I decided to pick up Astrid since I've heard so many people fawn over her (and I guess I should be making use of her double EXP ability anyway).

But it refused.

Mia! <3

And yeah, Aether is pretty beast in PoR.

Astrid's alright, as I recall. She's not Nino level good for her underleveledness when you get her, but she's a solid pick.

Played many games of Town of Salem with some friends today. It was fun. I was doing fairly well as the Godfather one round, though eventually it came down to a tiebreaker between me, the remaining Townie, and the serial killer. In this scenario, the Townie can't win, but basically is the deciding vote as to whether the SK or the Mafia win.

Unfortunately, the remaining Townie chose to lynch me.

...and then said "lol jk" and lynched the serial killer. Mafia victory.

Another game, I was the Escort, and decided to sleep with someone who I assumed was my friend Zach based solely on his name (despite his denial of it). Turned out he was the serial killer, so I died. Luckily I noted that I was sleeping with him that night in my will, so the town put 2 and 2 together and lynched him.

Turns out he was that friend.

I killed us both by sleeping with him.
