Dr. Jekyll's Dungeon of Death (1979)

Please forgive me if I disagree with the review posted there, because the martial arts in this "cult" film are---considering the obviously low budget---remarkably well choreographed, directed, and performed. I believe that the women fighters are Lydia Altamirano and Tes Luz.

Alright, from the sublime to the ridiculous, perhaps: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BodyguardBabes

Somehow they have missed Bruce Lee's Ways of Kung Fu (1978?), and the period Laotian drug gangs(?), among others.

Akira Kurosawa's RAN ****SPOILERS Alert****

...

Speaking of so-called bodyguard babes also means mentioning the Castle massacre scene in Akira Kurosawa's Ran (1985), where Lord Hidetora's concubines throw themselves in front of him to take a volley of bullets meant to kill him. It is a quick, brilliant sequence in a sad and haunting scene, to be sure.

In that story, borrowed as they say from Shakespeare (that king of borrowers himself), none of Hidetora's retainers male or female knew he was going to go senile, make such foolish decisions, and what the consequences would be in advance for them.

Given the dire limitations of feudal society, one wonders if most of them would have had much choice in their reactions anyway.

In such a topic, talk of the movie Ran requires mention also of Lady Kaede and Lady Sué, portrayed by Mieko Harada and Yoshiko Miyazaki respectively, almost as yang and yin personified... a highly recommended motion picture.

I remember Lisa Hullana co-starring as "China" in Vendetta (1986) ("Looks like somebody missed a payment."), but do not really recall that well her turn as a nurse on Magnum, P.I. ...

Vendetta pics are not that prevalent, as the movie hasn't been released on disc yet. Karen Chase (already listed in this topic) leads a good ensemble cast in a cheezy-but-fairly-well-choreographed actioner.

Very many characters with interesting styles and looks are missed here - and the pics aren't all the best - but this was rounded up on short notice. (How can one do a Women of Tekken without including Kunimitsu, Angel and Unknown? Hmmmm.)

There are literally a full army company's and more worth of 3D female fighting game characters alone that fit the bill, so maybe I will do another topic about them, here @ GF or elsewhere? Or not, we shall see. o_o

Gad, what a poisoned nightmare! The morons strike again.... and I don't want to have to put such a message in a post about any real person present or past.

Looks like it might be a decent enough movie. Hopefully someday I shall have the opportunity to be a movie buff again, and find out?
