Oh, goodness, no reviews?

The "Gold Box" series of D&D games are excellent. The tactical combat system in these games is superb, and you get the satisfaction of creating a very stable and powerful party. The Krynn series is the best, but within the Forgotten Realms series, this is a very strong game.

It's tough. You have basically L5-10 characters but they you encounter Dragons and other high-level monsters. You get strong monsters like Otoughs, Margoyles, and Efreets rounding out the foot soldiers. These are also the levels where your mages regularly cast your L3-4 area effect spells--yeah! An appearance by the Drow gives you fantastic grunt antagonists (the main reason I favor the Krynn series so much is because of the spectacular performance the Draconians make as recurring enemies).

It has enough plot to keep you interested. It has some epic "boss" combats, too. I just went back to this game yesterday.
So much of the tragedy in human history can be explained by man's attempts to kill Cain.
