Alright, here's the deal. The Nuzlocke challenge can be done on any Pokemon game. There are two rules (as seen in the first comic):

RULE 1: IF A POKEMON FAINTS, YOU MUST RELEASE IT IMMEDIATELY.
RULE 2: YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO CATCH THE FIRST* POKEMON IN AN AREA**, AND NONE FURTHER.***

*If it is a pokemon you already have, you may look until you find one you don't have.
**An area is defined as a route, cave, city, etc.
***If you make that first pokemon in the area faint, you are outta luck.

All I'll be doing here is writing down my notes about who I catch, what I name them, and what happens to them. I'll be playing Platinum, but I'm sure I probably won't make it past the second of third gym. Here we go!

"Woody" Level 8 Turtwig
"Jesse" Level 7 Starly, Caught on Route 201
"DeDeDe" Level 3 Bidoof, Caught on Route 202

Extras in box:
Nobody yet

RIP:
Nobody yet

Notes:

This is much harder than expected. Had to run away from a level 3 kricketot because it used bide and then I hit him with a tackle. No thanks, not willing to risk it.

Hate Bidoof, wish I had gotten a Shynx or something. Oh well.

Man you have to be REALLY careful. Jesse almost died off a critical from a level 5 Bidoof. Whew.

Routes failed to catch:
Route 203, Level 4 Shynx after a critical hit from a tackle by Woody. LE SIGH.

Notes:

DAMN IT I WANTED THAT SHYNX. God I can't wait for false swipe. So much to worry about with those crits. Gotta plan for them or it'll kill you.
* My friend asked me if I wanted a frozen banana, I said "No, but I want a regular banana later, so ... yeah".

Notes:

I've never hoarded so many potions and status healers in my life.

Just encountered something else that's going to be a *****: confusion. Stupid Zubat, had to switch out on it like 6 times.

Can't bring myself to level DeDeDe... But Nuke caught up quick. Gonna need him in the first gym.

I've been doing this too. Already at badge 6 on Pearl going to Lake Acuity, and it's really something fun to do, but you gotta be careful. I've had so many close encounters.

But don't worry, confusion becomes less threatening once you get an electric/psychic type to kill off those Zubats in one hit.

Also, beware Fantina. Shadow Ball can deal some crazy damage if you let your guard down.

Oreburgh Gate, Level 7 Geodude :( from an absorb by Budew.

Sigh overestimated geodude's special defense. Took five absorbs to kill a psyduck lvl 9, but only 1 to kill a lvl 7 geodude. At least I'm learning about the game.

Yay, got to catch Geodude anyway at the mine.

It'll get really hard later on I'm sure. I mean, you can always grind to make it easy but you can do that anyway. You have to be VERY careful though, cause one dumb move or mistake and you've just lost your best pokey.

RIP:
"Chopper" Level 11 Machop, Caught in Route 207. Killed by a critical headbutt from Cranidos against Roarke.

Routes failed to catch:
Route 203, Level 4 Shynx after a critical hit from a tackle by Woody. LE SIGH.
Oreburgh Gate, Level 7 Geodude :( from an absorb by Budew.

Caught a Machop which is cool, and now almost every poke I have will be strong against Roark.

Alright, time to go challenge Roark. With Machop finally up to speed, it shouldn't be too hard though I fully expect to lose one Poke in the battle. We'll see how it goes. Nuke almost goes down too. Finally Rocky manages to take him down.

Goodbye my sweet Machop. We hadn't been together long, but I loved you.

<3 Absorb, and Woody learned razor leaf after beating Geodude. That makes life MUCH easier. Onix went down without dealing any damage either, but he did put up Stealth Rock. Looks like it's gonna be Woody all the way here. Oh man headbutt is a *****. Woody's gotta come out, stupid flinching moves. Aw great, OHKO critical headbutt on Chopper. :(
