  3. Why exactly did Final Fantasy X-2 switch back from CTB to ATB? Was it nostalgia?

Because ATB worked perfectly fine for Final Fantasy IV-IX. That was six games across two generations, but then Final Fantasy X switched it up with CTB, which eliminated the quasi-real time element from battles. Seeing as how Square Enix has never reused CTB since FFX, and yet they've implemented elements of ATB with FFXII, FFXIII, and the FFVII Remake, could it just be that people were getting nostalgic for ATB, and Squaresoft at the time wanted to revisit ATB regardless of how little sense it might have made within the context of Spira?

idk, I do appreciate the CTB though, even though I like both CTB and ATB. FFX did it so well
