There's a lot that can be discussed with this.

Black Magic runs off a different formula from most attacks so it's really strong at this point.

Even with the basic equipment available in Chapter 1, there's a lot of offensive power to be gained from equipping to favor a certain stat.

Level-dependent attacks (On the Level and Storm Cannon) have a pretty good showing if you are otherwise equipping for defense/abilities instead of pure offense. For that matter, 1000 Needles is pretty amazing if you bring it over from NG+.

Physical attackers will often want to equip the Gleam accessories, for a chance to double the damage through elemental weakness at the cost of 4 Strength.

Spare Change has a very favorable Gil:damage ratio with these smaller numbers.

Zantetsu is dependent not only on the ratio between YRP level and enemy level, but also your absolute level, so it doesn't work well at all at this point.

All these abilities easily outdamage a basic Attack.

Cactling Gun makes a strong showing, even at this low level (although Flare, Ultima, and Annihilator which I didn't calculate, far outdamage it).

Mad Rush and Hurt are very good single target contenders but their drawbacks (setup and full HP for max potential) are obvious.

Trigger Happy does good damage in its own right, even ignoring the damage potential from the chain it sets up.

When you can tag the right fiend type, Fiend Hunter puts up impressive numbers, especially considering the low charge time/MP/AP cost.

Telekinesis and PuPu Platter are ridiculous when you have them this early in the game. The other Eject abilities are more reasonable.

Special DS damage is lacking when you take offensive equipment into account. Focused Great Whirl is great though.

These numbers are just one metric in comparing abilities. So much more goes into it in actual gameplay: specific enemy stats, MP, charge time, YRP dressphere layout, individual player preferences and playstyle, ATB mode, battle speed, elemental, back attack, single-target/multi-target/split damage, etc.

Taking a closer look at Trainer, each of YRP have their own unique abilities that at least somewhat correspond to abilities from other dresspheres. So if you're planning on learning these Trainer abilities, it might be a good idea to forego learning the corresponding ones, or at least learn them on a different member of YRP.

In addition, each of them get access to status effects that most dresspheres don't have access to - usually you'll get them through equipment (though Haste and Berserk can also be gotten through Warrior's Assault or Samurai's Hayate)

Yuna
Kogoro Elemental strikes (Warrior Elemental strikes)
Doom Kogoro (Dark Knight Doom)
Kogoro Freeze (Borrowed Time)
Kogoro Strike (Thief Steal Will or Berserker Eject)
+ Darkness/Berserk/Sleep

Rikku
Sneaky/Mugger Ghiki (Thief Pilfer Gil/Steal)
Bully Ghiki (Samurai Dismissal)
Ghiki Cheer (Songstress Battle Song/Cantus Firmus)
+ Darkness/Berserk/Silence

Paine
Stone/Death Flurry (Dark Knight Break/Death)
Poison Flurry (Berserker Envenom)
HP/Guard/Shield Flurry (White Mage Curaga/Protect/Shell)
Carrier Flurry (Thief Steal Will or Berserker Eject)
+ Haste

All in all, there's no clear pattern or symmetry with how the different Trainers map, it's somewhat of a smorgasbord of different talents that you may or may not find use for.

When YRP approach Zanarkand they become distressed because the metonym for their struggles--at least for Yunnie and Rikku--is being commodified, turned into Disneyland (a Tragic Kingdom if there ever was one).

I have the opposite impression when I come here. Here instead the journey is looked back at, reflected upon, venerated. As it should be.

You can play the songs yourself? If so, kudos!
