How do you get around? Is it dungeon crawling or is it a sandbox game or one where you go get missions and repeat (see: No More Heroes)?

Action adventure with an incredible variety of activities. Hand to hand combat, stealth, puzzle solving, collecting (photographs and pearls), 4x hovercraft racing , fighting the hovercraft, chasing looters in the hovercraft, platforming (in the hovercraft), etc. All in the middle of a war. There's even more that I'll let you discover for yourself.

The art, story, variety, imagination, graphics, atmosphere, plot, etc are all great. The music is outstanding. The game's worth getting for the soundtrack alone. The whole game is like playing in a movie, but in a good way. It really is like visiting a different world that's a nice place to be.

The game will seem long the first time through. Some of the stealth sections seem to take roughly forever. Replays go a lot faster.

Kinda makes me think of Uncharted.

I've never played Uncharted, just watched video walkthroughs. Not a lot of similarity from what I could see. Jade's a lot more graceful. Plus, there's not much ranged combat in Beyond Good and Evil.

The game that BG&E usually gets compared to is Zelda: Windwaker. I'm not sure why.

Now, the characters are done as well, or better. The platforming's in a hovercraft (which can jump) instead of individuals. You take photographs of the planet's animals to earn money, which may be unique.

If you get it for the GameCube, Beyond Good and Evil won't be cheap. I'd still recommend it, but it may seem short.

I remember thinking it was like a really short Zelda when I first played it. Same basic layout with the overworld and the smaller towns/dungeons, but about a quarter of the size/length. Awesome for every second that it lasts though.
