  3. First 20 minutes is just talking. Long conversations slowed down the beginning

This actually makes it kind of hard to start new playthroughs of Golden Sun: The Lost Age. The beginning is really boring because you just cycle through text in the first 20 minutes or so, not that it goes away after that. Just look at this longplay where the talking doesn't stop and Jenna doesn't get to do anything until 20:48!

a bit of a problem with the whole series, long periods of dialogue with no interaction from you

Golden Sun is a very great RPG but at the same time very verbose. In replays, if I'm really bored, I usually just pop in some songs to listen to while pressing the long winded text box away until i can move my character again. Or I'll let it auto-hold the A button while I'm tending to my crops in Harvest Moon or some other things just so that i can get pass the dialogue. But usually, I'll sit through and resign myself to the inevitability that to replay this game, you have no choice but to prepare yourself to sift through the mountainous dialogue and let the characters talk a lot because it is just what it is, and there's just no way around it sadly.
All we had to do, was follow the damn train, CJ!
