C) CHARACTERS

16) Optional Characters

The optional characters are Albel, Nel, Peppita, and Roger. You can get any two of them in your party. They become permanent members.

Following by lhssh99
There are two characters who have to be recruited at certain times to have the possibility of getting an ending with them: Adray and Albel.

It's generally known that you have to pick up Adray before the Aquarian/Glyphian war to be able to get his coupled ending later. The far less known fact is that Albel has to be your 7th character if you want an ending with him. It's impossible to get the Fayt/Albel ending if you have to fight Albel to make him your 8th.

16a) Misconception about Adray and Mirage

Some people think Adray and Mirage are optional characters. Adray and Mirage are NOT (N-O-T) optional characters. They will join your party, stay in your party, and in no way restrict the player from recruiting Albel, Nel, Peppita, or Roger. If they feel tacked on, that is because, due to a technicality, they are. Both characters were added in the Director’s Cut release, but were given little dialogue and story significance (Adray especially)

16b) How to Obtain Optional Characters
Section by Shadow47001
11b-1) Getting Nel as 1st optional character

Do not do any scenes involving Albel in the Peterny inn or Roger's adversary in Surferio. She will appear in the 2nd Kirsla Training Facility event. Note that you can still temporarily recruit Roger and do his Ancient Books quest without accidentally permanently recruiting him, as long as you do it before Albel joins temporarily.

16b-2) Getting Nel as 2nd optional character

Once you can return to Elicoor 2 later in the game, go to Castle Aquaria and tell her you don't have time to talk.

16b-3) Getting Albel as 1st optional character

While Albel is in your party and before facing Crosell, go to Peterny inn and rest there. You'll get a scene with Albel asking if you hate him. Say no. You will get him in the 2nd Kirsla Training Facility event.

16b-4) Getting Albel as 2nd optional character

Once you can return to Elicoor 2 later in the game, go talk to Woltar in his mansion in Kirsla. After that, head back to where Crosell's lair is. Albel will be there, and will challenge you. It's a one-on-one fight between Fayt and Albel. If you win, you can recruit him.

16b-5) Getting Roger 1st optional character

Before facing Crosell, head to Surferio and go into the house across from the shop and participate in the event with Roger. You will get him in the 2nd Kirsla Training Facility event.

16b-6) Getting Roger as 2nd optional character

Once you can return to Elicoor 2 later in the game, head to Surferio, in the village elder's house. He must have been in your party before.

16b-7) Getting Peppita (2nd)

Simply let her join when she asks if she can come along.

20) MP

20a) Do I really die when I run out of MP?

Yes, you do. Zero MP = Mental Fatigue, just as Zero HP = Physical Fatigue. Just like you cannot exercise when your body is physically exhausted, you cannot think when your brain is mentally exhausted. In either case, you would not be of much use on the battlefield.

21) Recommended Levels

21a) What level should I be for __? / Are my levels high enough?

Levels are less important than good equipment, proper skills, and proper use of skill points. So long as you are not running from every encounter, you should almost always be at "the right level". This is especially true if you are not going for BTs. Note that there are some incredibly powerful “normal” enemies that you should almost always avoid at all costs - don't take them to mean that your levels are too low because they're not. These enemies include the Proclaimers on Styx, pretty much everything on floors 1-5 of Sphere, and the polyhedrons in the Shrine of Kaddan.

For post-game bosses, like Freya, the right level is always, “Higher”.

E) ITEMS

23) Ring of Disintegration

23a) Concept

The Ring of Disintegration is used to clear rubble in dungeon maps, allowing access to treasure. Also, by chaining rubble disintegration, invention materials are rewarded as prizes.

23b) Location

Get it from Vanilla, the retail rabbit, in Urssa Lava Caverns as a regular part of the game progression.

23c) I'm up to X location and my Ring of Disintegration is (or: nearly) empty. Where's the nearest Retail Rabbit?

The Ring of Disintegration works even at 0. The charge only gives you invention materials, which are much more easily obtained post-game from Santa.
~The Unbeliever

24) Bunny Statues

24a) The Three Sizes

There are three sizes of bunny statues. They are: 1/144, 1/60 and 1/1.

24b) How Obtained

Bunny statues are normally obtained by getting 99% completion on a map. However, one of them can be obtained from Mighty Vox.

24c) Usage

The 1/144 and 1/60 Bunny Statues raise party movement by 5%, just by being in inventory. The 1/1 Bunny Statue reduces party movement by 50%, just by being in the inventory.
~Transformr for party movement % clarification & 1/60 statue name clarification

24d) Stacking Effects

The positive effects of 1/144 and 1/60 will not stack on each other, no matter whether you have one of each, or multiples of either. The negative effect of the 1/1 will not stack upon itself. However, one can have the effect of one positive source of speed and one negative source of speed simultaneously, resulting in a -45% party speed. Know that other sources of speed alteration, such as the Bunny Shoes, will also affect party movement while any bunny statues are equipped.

~Pos/Neg/Accessory Stacking by Kern

24e) Selling Bunny Statues

Keep one 1/44 Bunny Statue at all times. Sell all other 1/144 bunny statues, all 1/60 bunny statues and all 1/1 bunny statues.

25) Ancient Books

25a) Concept
The Ancient Books have vague references to the locations of several secret items. To obtain them, rescue Roger in Duggus, then meet up with him in Surferio afterwards and agree to help him. As long as you do this before getting Albel, don't worry - you have only temporarily recruited Roger.

25b) Item Locations

25c) Which Worth Obtaining

Health Berry (Duggus, near Earth Smasher)
Magi Berry (Kirlsa Cavern, near the Hauler controls)
Rabbit Ear Chalice (Urssa Lava Temple)
(Thanks to Marty for first two)

26) Decrepit Tome Locations
Section by Shadow47001
There's only 4 of them in the game.

1. Obtained from Norton
2. Obtained from Earth Smasher
3. Kirsla Training Facility, one of the chests where you need the Ring of Disintegration
4. Underground area of Ruins of Mosel, at the very end in the treasure room.

27) Worm-Eaten Tome Locations
Section by Shadow47001
There's only 3 of them in the game.

Locations:
1. Kirlsa Training Facility, 2nd Floor
2. Bequerel Mine, workshop area by window
3. Airyglyph Aqueducts

28) Books of Prophecy

28a) Purpose
You can use the first one to recruit an inventor. However, if you read their descriptions, you will notice each one has something written.

This is what the all the books say:

1: the urssa the epilogue encountered
2: enemy lava members seen good
3: that caves of although luck
4: awaits differs your all slaying
5: in according party cannot the
6: the to and be enemy

To understand what it says, read from top to bottom, left to right.

This is what the whole thing says:

"The enemy that awaits in the Urssa Lava Caves differs according to the members of your party and epilogue seen, although all cannot be encountered. Good luck slaying the enemy."
~Shadow47001, for descriptions and decoding

28b) So, what’s that mean?

In the Urssa Temple, a bonus dungeon, you have to fight a series of three boss sets. The first two boss sets are based on the two optional party members you did not recruit. The last boss set is Fayt & whoever he ended up with in the ending. If Fayt was alone in the ending, then you will fight Fayt and Luther 2nd Form. Do not take this last battle lightly, no matter how easy you thought the first two were. Fayt is a monster, who moves lightning fast, has a lot of HP, every one of his battle skills, and very high strength. His partner is also super-powered, most notably with Sophia and with Luther.

29) Trading Cards

29a) Purpose

Trading Cards allow you to access 2/3/4/5/6P costumes in Versus Mode. I am unsure if some of the costumes for characters are unlocked, thus I do not know how many cards there are. Neither do I know all their locations. Check the FAQs.

30) Orichalcum

30a) Spelling

Orichalcum. O-Ri-Chal-Cum. Not “orihalcum”, “orochalcom”, or “orangechalkcome”. The proper spelling is “orichalcum”. The spelling differs between many video games, but in SO:TET, the proper spelling is “orichalcum”.

30b) Purpose

Orichalcum is an ore that, when refined onto a weapon, gives +500 to attack as its first effect, and 50% survival on fury as its second.

30c) When to Use Orichalcum
Do not use this during the main game, on your first playthrough, on galaxy. If you are post-game, you are welcome to use it. If you are playing on a difficulty above galaxy, it is debatable, but since you have already beaten the game, feel free to use it. If you use this through the main game on Earth or Galaxy, you are being cheap.

31) Accessory Trophies

31a) Basic Info on Bunny and Victory Trophies

These trophies are one-of-a-kind items that make awesome accessories.

31b) How to Obtain Bunny Trophy

Get 1,000 Points in the Bunny Race. I do not recommend doing this. By the time you accomplish this, you could have beaten the game a few times.

31c) How to Obtain Victory Trophy

Get to Rank 1 in the Battle Arena. The next time you challenge the Rankings, you will get a challenge invitation from the Champions. Accept, beat them, and you will receive the Victory Trophy.

By the way, you can challenge the Champions as much as you want, until you beat them. After that, you cannot fight them anymore.

31d) Effects of Bunny and Victory Trophies

They have the same effects.
-40% Battle Skill HP Use
-2 Fury
+10 enemy Fury reduction when guard broken
6% MP reocvery at intervals during battle
1/2 casting time
Raises normal attack decision by 2
Freezing (Attack effect)
Shoots balls of light when attacking
~by hansonchueh, obtained from Shadow47001’s Battle Arena Guide

I do not know whether the effect stacks.

32)Unusual Items: Tri-Emblum, Lezard Flask, Commemorative Prize

32a) Tri-Emblum

Yay! You got the Tri-Emblem! Wait, the spelling looks a little off. Oops, you have a fake. The Tri-Emblum is a worthless accessory. By the time you get one of these, there are far better accessories immediately available. It is best to sell these.

32b) Lezard Flask

A flask belonging to a legendary alchemist! Unfortunately, it has no benefits for the party in any way. Sell it for a pretty penny.

32c) Commemorative Prize

Congratulations! You won a bunny race! This commemorative prize is just for show.

33)Understanding Special Item Effects

33a) Raise normal attack decision by “X”

Increases the number of hits inflicted every time you connect with a normal attack. Thus, if you have the Bunny or Victory trophy equipped, and Fayt hits an enemy with a regular sword swing, he will hit three times, instead of once.

For “attack decision + x”, every hit following the first hit does 1/2 the previous hit's damage. If your normal attack normally does 1000 damage, then with attack decison+1, you will do 1000+1/2 of 1000 (or 500 if you're bad at math). You will hit for 1000, then for 500, doing a total of 1500 damage. If you have attack decison+2, you will do 1000+1/2 of 1000(again, 500)+ 1/2 of 500 (250). Thus, you will hit three times for 1000, 500, and 250 doing a total of 1750 damage.
~Danstu for attack decision formula

33b) Shoots balls of light when attacking

When a character equipped with something that has this effect uses a normal attack, four balls of light will emerge from the weapon and attack the enemy for (unknown) damage.
