You could effectively traverse Onrac twice, I guess.
What do you mean by this part? You shouldn't have to for any reason I can think of.

Seems pretty doable overall. Especially without many mages.

Hmm...I may have to run the Edward challenge. Make him a Thief (or maybe Red Mage for the hat and colors?) that can only ever use the Run command and, to make it something of an actual challenge and not just a three-character run, any death to him is a reset. No revives and no petrification allowed since he has to witness every last moment to write the song to save the world (obviously, he is the only Light Warrior capable of playing the Lute). This has some wacky merit without being painful to play.

Well, I was thinking of the trip into Sea Shrine and the trip out. I had even reasoned that you can’t get EXIT at all and you can’t get WARP until after Sea Shrine… but I guess I forgot about Kraken’s warp tile.

Each town once challenge is very doable, but would be rough early on. The ship mini game would be a great source of gold, but you’d have to be geared up for the Marsh Cave when you leave Pravoka since you can’t stop at Elfheim until after you get the Herb.

I’m thinking four Fighters is the best plan. Magic won’t be refilled very often, and high absorb will be key.

So the toughest part would be getting enough gold before going to Pravoka for some short swords and iron armor, as well as lots of potions and pures. This would have to happen with only the starting HP since I don’t think you could gain much gold fighting imps at Lv1 while unequipped, so your Coneria trip would be used up right away.

Once you’re over that hurdle though, you should leave Elfheim with as many potions, pures, cabins, and houses as you can carry. The rest of the game would be a minor inconvenience from that point on.

That depends on whether you consider Elfheim and the castle to be two separate destinations...

Personally, I wouldn’t count the two populated castles as anything. Doing so with Coneria would introduce the biggest barrier to strictly completing the challenge since you’d need to get the Bridge and the TNT on two different trips.

Oh duh, silly me. Of course those would be different. That changes everything for the better.

Am I crazy, or does the beginning part of the "each town once only" challenge seem impossible? This sounds like it would be a real pain even if you are using save states or the Origins memory save.

I'm probably missing something, but I'm not seeing how you could legitimately obtain the amount of gold you would need to fund the huge amount of stuff you would need from Pravoka and/or Elfheim before running out of HP and/or healing capacity. Since you have essentially no healing between the time you leave Coneria and the time you visit Pravoka, you would likely have to visit Pravoka without a great deal of gold (I can't see four Fighters with 35 HP each lasting too long if they don't have any way to heal unless we are talking about a strategy which involves using save states and/or the memory save to reset until you get through an easy battle without taking much or any damage, saving the game, and then repeating this process for a large number of battles). If you don't have much gold going into Pravoka, you would likely run into the same problem of running out of HP and/or healing capacity before you obtain the amount of gold you would need for Elfheim. Am I missing something, or are we assuming that save states and/or the memory save would be allowed for this particular challenge?

The ship mini game is the answer here.
So start with 4 Fighters. Go to Coneria and buy Chain Armor and Rapiers and whatever tents you can. Kill Garland, go to Pravoka trying to earn enough gold for Iron Armor along the way. Kill pirates.

At this point you play the mini game in the ship until you all but lose your sanity so you can buy Silver Swords for all and tons of Heals, Pures, Softs, and Cabins. Then you’re free to grind as needed until your Cabins and/or Houses run out, but it won’t take much grinding really with four Fighters. Then kill Wizards, Astos, Vamp, and Lich before heading to Crescent Lake.

The rest seems pretty straight forward. It’s all about playing that mini game to make 100 gold each time. I think if you wanted to try this challenge, you should definitely just hack some gold instead.

Oh, I see. I had never actually tried the ship mini-game before and didn't know what you were referring to when you mentioned it in your earlier post (although now I do vaguely recall reading about it on the GameFAQs "Cheats" tab for this game). Regardless, I had no idea this was a way you could earn gold without taking any damage until you mentioned it again just now. You're definitely right about that being key - thanks for the clarification!
