We're in top 32 right now, going all the way to the end today.

Incidentally, I had a dream last night with n0ne in it, whatever that means... Unfortunately he's running into Hbox right now early in the bracket, so unless he pulls of the upset he's looking at a long loser's run if he's going to place well. AWWWW damn it, Hbox 3-2, last stock game 5 with the clutchgod rest. Really close, good set.

1. S2J
2. ibdw
3. moky
4. Ginger
5-6. SFAT, Hax$
7-8. Axe, 2saint

S2J wins a major! Including his first win over Hbox 3-0, 3-1 x2 over ibdw in winner's quarters and grand finals, and 3-2 moky in winner's final. Making his case for that #3 spot right now behind Zain and Mango.

Very solid tournament for S2J. Happy to see him pull out a win. Hoping to see Mango and Zain complete again soon though.

S2J's win over Hbox was surprisingly lopsided. Even in the Slippi age, Hbox doesn't usually get bopped like that

In person tournaments are going to be sooooo hype, I can't wait for the first major. So much new blood, so many unknowns after playing online for so long. The only thing that would make it better is if Armada announces he has been secretly grinding Melee and is coming out of retirement

For sure.

The great promise of slippi is more people than ever getting into the game competitively and actually being able to get reps in without having to rely on a potentially limited or even nonexistent local scene. Plus UnclePunch making learning tech also that much more accessible.

Altogether, the result has been terrific with, as you note, a lot of new players starting to make names for themselves, and bringing up the overall level of play to new heights, where the average tech skill we're seeing even from unknown players in the earlier parts of tournament brackets is stuff that was reserved for top players a decade ago.

Makes for an exciting landscape going forward.

Johnny's really stepped it up lately. 3-0 zain the week prior (although he did get wrecked in grands 6-1 later). While hbox has notably fallen off the past year.

Mang0 has been using a lot of Fox lately... I think he took iBDW’s quitting the character against Zain as a challenge, like “you guys just need to get good, Fox still beats Marth”
